On Sunday 22.08.2010 we woke up in sunny Italy and started full throttle cycling in the morning on the 24 km long spaghetti road towards the top of Stelvio Pass. The road, as long as you're still in the forest, is similar to our road from KG to Vršič, but when you get out of the forest, you see the winding serpentines, I think about 45, and when you see on the meter that there's still 1x as much as to Vršič, your head starts working full on. The road looks craaaazy, mountains and hills around, you're pedaling like mad and watching the meter, but the meters rise veeeeery slowly. The route was super for me, we did cca 1.800 vertical meters, the top of the pass was again black with people. Recommend...

There are two routes to Stelvio Pass, from the north from Spondigna, from the south from Bormio. From the description it's not clear where you started. Anyway for me in distant 1986 with a fičko it went great over this pass, and later also over Gavia Pass from Santa Caterine, and another pass towards Livigno and on to St. Moritz. Nice places, it'd be nice to visit them again, and ice cream at Via Roma 49 in Bormio was excellent back then too.

Hey Igor, we started about 11 km
before Trafoi, I think a bit after the end of Prato allo Stelvio. The places are really wonderful.

hey,
we slept at some friendly auntie's, overnight with breakfast was I think around 20 euros, we booked online before... but don't ask me for the place, I have no idea , just know we were in the middle of an apple orchard, hehe. well, hope I helped a bit, maybe I'll find the place somewhere and let you know...

Nice tour, Rok! On similar tours, change your tires to narrow ones, it'll go much better and even on the flat with the same power about 10 km/h faster
