Some snow has fallen on Ratitovec too. Access from the Bohinj direction is still possible. On the upper road there is about 10 cm of snow, from the intersection towards Pečana to the parking area it is plowed. It was blowing hard on the summit. Caught some last rays on Altemaver and below Ratitovec. One picture, two are here: http://www.petersfoto.si

On Ratitovec there is approx. 20cm of snow. The path from Prtovč village via Povden and via Razor are well trodden, via Povden also a bit frozen on exposed spots.

Today at 10am I take advantage of some intermediate time without precipitation and head to Ratitovec. In Selška dolina it started raining again, so what, we're not made of sugar. I arrive at Prtovč and it's still raining. I go higher up to 1300m, where from the fog wet snow starts falling. Overnight it whitened a bit 100m lower, then during the day the snow line only rose higher. In Razor cirque there was already some south wind snow, at the hut about 10cm of it. Up top a warm south wind blew, as the thermometer showed only +2.5°C. At this altitude, unlike here in the Julians, it snowed heavily. During the hike despite bad weather I met three locals, two even with crampons and one sprinter. Strong thaw expected for the weekend, so watch out for those heading to Julians with lots of new snow. Especially exposed grassy slopes for avalanches and also elsewhere!. Today's tour except a bit of exercise offered practically nothing, just rain, some snow and fog. Regards!

Compared to yesterday, conditions on Ratitovec were completely different this morning. Already at Prtovč, you know what's waiting at the top. Very strong wind was blowing. Anyway "Friends of Ratitovec", we go up even in worse conditions. At the hut one degree below zero, which with strong wind greatly increases the cold feeling, so I just signed in the winter bivouac and off back. As viharnik already wrote, just a bit of exercise. Even two hours is better than nothing.

White, track made, depending on weather it might be icy for the weekend (now rain, then frost). Crampons mandatory. Regards

Rok Kovač or roktaprav, you did well on this one. Oh, if only a bit more snow would fall.

Hi. Can anyone give some info on the path from Podrošt or from Zalega Loga to Ratitovec? Any peculiarities? Thanks

Apart from the steepness, nothing From Podrošt I don't know, but reportedly about a year ago they were renewing the markings on that route. Since the path also crosses the route (currently power line construction site), it might be quite disturbed in some places. This also applies to Poden, where both paths join the one from Prtovča. From Zalega loga locals use it daily to Groblje, where they have a logbook, so probably no major peculiarities. From Podrošt I haven't gone either and it tempts me, so if you happen to go that way, take some photos and post here LP

Hey Gregor. Like this: I went to check how it is... Of course apart from steepness no special features, the terrain was quite wet though. Planned to get to Ratitovec anyway, but rain caught me before, so I turned at Poldne saddle and used the road for the upper descent part. From what I saw Groblje is very popular with locals, others don't know it at all. Next plan is up from Podrošt, I think I'll go soon. Will attach some pics when both paths are done.
