Yesterday Prisojnik, up Kopiščarjeva, down Slovenska dol. First serious tour after ankle sprain on 15.6. Sprain was more messed up than hoped. Still not 100%, yesterday was the first real test. Luckily it's improving, I think I'm out of the worst. Still need extra caution for another month. Tour choice because it's known to me and not too long in elevation and length. Wife hadn't been to Prisojnik yet, had to take her up. What I forgot is that ~1,100m elevation on such a path can be physically demanding similar to ~1,500m on an easier path. Let me describe the path from the perspective of a woman who was initiated into this route for the first time. Maybe useful to someone. She got stuck most at two spots right at the beginning, where the exposure is considerable and confidence in moving on such paths is needed. Already there in two details, trust in hands is very helpful. Chimney is attractive, but due to plenty of iron it's not too hard. There she panted a bit a few times, but it was already past. Preduh is specific, as you have to make an awkward side move there, which can be a problem with a backpack if you have a history of back issues. In that case, the easiest way to solve potential problems is to pass the backpack up to your partner, which we did in her case. Personally, the preduh is one of my favorite parts of the path, it's really interesting. Generally, on such a path, arm strength i.e. trust in your hands is very welcome. Males are probably somewhat advantaged here, on average. At least with mine, I noticed she got stuck exactly on details where you have to pull yourself up with one strong move and thus resolve any fiddling or problems. Holds for gripping are plentiful anyway. Of course, I'm describing from the perspective of an average hiker who doesn't master any serious technical climbing. After all, such a path is basically intended for such visitors. Lots of visitors of course, weather is (finally) superb. May it last. Vršič total chaos that puts you off everything. 2 motorhomes stuck with breakdown on the road on the way up... Let's be fair and admit that in the case of Vršič, traffic restriction and ramp installation is not just a possible pretext for cashing in, but a NECESSITY. What it will bring regarding parking fees, I don't know. I also can't imagine how the traffic regime will work in practice, but I hope there will be a special tariff for motorhomes just for transit. Enough is enough.
