Požar and Črna gora

The unmarked little paths between Požar and Črna gora above Kot tempt us. Has anyone maybe walked there yet this year? Expecting lots of clambering over fallen trees, still some snow?
Thanks for info and nice holiday!

There won't be much snow, but there'll be quite a few trees, and you might meet a bear too.

Yesterday, 27.5.2017, Rok and I went first along the unmarked path to Požar, where the view is really such as I didn't expect and worth all the effort. Since going back the same way didn't appeal, we extended the tour to Črna gora. Lots of up and down, at the end we still didn't find the marked path from Črna gora to Kot, so we just bushwhacked down our own way. Nice tour, just at the end really need to watch for that path or you'll make descent harder...

Yesterday walked this path. For the full traverse of this route then descent to Kot and back to Kosmačev preval we needed 6 hours. Unfortunately must say the bivouac on Črna gora is in poor condition. Only question of time when it collapses in on itself. From the preval to Črna gora demanding pathless terrain. Much fallen wood and quite hard searching for individual cairns. Further from the bivouac to Požar the path is traceable without special problems.
This path is very little visited so I recommend it to hikers seeking peace and of course to those with lots of fitness.

Yesterday from Kosmačev pass along the ridge to Požar. The path is a bit harder to follow in the lower part due to leaves, after crossing the rock faces no more issues. Break at the bivouac on Črna gora with view on Kukova špica and further along the ridge. Paths up and down the ridge through the forest easy to follow, bushes on Lengarjeva glava passable. Longer rest on Požar, for return chose the path descending to Lengarov rovt in Kot. Despite leaves in upper part well visible, caution needed due to narrow, in places exposed trail. From rovt another good half hour to start. Nice weather.

Today only to Lengarjeva glava, didn't try the full loop over Požar and Kot in snow.
Started at Kosmačev pass, temperature around zero, snow in Zatrepu about 30 cm. Higher or on the ridge more, up to half a meter. On the way to bivouac first part just right firm, last two ascents before bivouac even a bit too much, used ice axe and microspikes up and down. On the ridge different story, snow softer, sinks most of the way. On Lengarjeva glava snow covers bushes.
Some sun, nice views not missing.
Steep ascent, good snow.1
Despite knowing the path, it's good to have a tracked path :-) Thanks to the predecessor.2

On Sunday (26.5.2019) with group "Hribovska druženja" walked this nice circular path in opposite direction. Kot-Požar-Legnarjeva glava-Črna gora-Kosmačev pass. Path not marked, in some sections a bit exposed and up to Črna gora well followable. From Črna gora the path gets lost several times among leaves, greater caution needed. Also some fallen trees on the path. Ridge path offers wonderful views of nearby and distant peaks. Nice mountaineer's greeting.

Yesterday I went again on the path over this ridge. Nice day and dry slope provided quick access from Kosmačev pass to bivouac below Črna gora. Despite leaves the trail is well followable, no snow in this part. Bivouac door wide open, due to destroyed hinges barely managed to close it. To Predelov vrh continuation mostly dry, from Nizka dolina onwards mostly soft snow appears, harder on shady parts. On Lengarjeva glava and further along ridge more snow, amount and hardness depend on path position. On Požar longer rest and enjoyment nasmeh, then along ridge another good 100m to marked junction (cairn) to Kot. Trail partly snowy, in forest full of piled leaves requiring caution. Bigger issue is good insulation that leaves provide, hiding icy ground in higher slope parts, narrow trail at steep forest slope not ideal for sliding. nasmeh
One gully the trail crosses is nicely snowy, ice axe good for safer continuation. Lower no more snow, but valley path and start of road partly frozen, by which I returned to Kosmačev pass.
Due to good conditions didn't use winter gear - except described exception - but few degrees lower temp could require it. Good views.

The whole path is easily traceable and without snow remnants. Upper part of ascent is narrower due to steepness and avalanche action. Ridge at start a bit overgrown, when it enters beech forest no more issues. So up to bivouac below Črna gora. Then need to find descent path that gently leads over quite steep slopes to start.

We left the car at Kosmačev preval and headed to Kot.1
We walked on gravel to Lengarjev rovt.2
There are numerous forestry interventions due to various causes.3
Hehe, judging by the sticker on the machine, they have video surveillance in the middle of nowhere :)4

Condition 26.5.2021.
Today on descent from Požar to Kot we hit fresh blowdown - quite a few trees and big branches lying. Wind really did a number. Down somehow managed, cuz two of us each searching continuation on own side. How about ascent? That someone soon tackles it with motorbike I almost don't believe. For now - passable for most stubborn and persistent.
To Lengarjev rovt by car currently impossible - forest cable on road.
Safe travels

I on 9.5.2021 started from Kot towards Požar. Found path start but lost it very quickly due to mentioned blowdown. Searched continuation for a while, then decided and chose direct vertical line up gully past waterfall straight to ridge. Had all gear with me (ice axe, crampons) so no problem.

Črna gora, Lengarjeva glava, Požar, circular path almost entirely dry or snow starts barely around 1500m, on ridge no major issues. At junction turn left down, first chamois fled and stones started flying, waited and watched up carefully if more. Path here narrow and barely traceable due to avalanches, also two snowy gullies short traverse and bigger snowfield which I bypassed. Below some fallen trees. And back by road to asphalt.

There are two titles for the same ridge, I chose the one with the later postnasmeh.

Start yesterday at Kosmačev preval, the trip description by Tadej helped us, so no complications. We agreed with the predecessors that there is quite a bit of steepness on the path, no matter from which end you tackle it. The path is traceable, it just sometimes gets lost a bit, but we quickly found the continuation. Yesterday incredibly much greenery along the path, no matter where you actually looked. A little before Črna gora we stepped to a viewpoint, where we first admired just the vista, as it was like stepping into Japanese gardens. Right there also opens the view to the Peričnik waterfall, which you actually can't see so fully from anywhere else and of course its near and farther surroundings. Right near this viewpoint we caught sight of the bivouac, which is very close. We were a bit disappointed by its miserable state and wondered how come if something is built from a good idea, no one is found to at least minimally maintain it. Really a shame!

The ridge further on is quite long, countless descents and ascents, but nice, so worth persisting. First great viewpoint already at Lengarjeva glava, where the view in no way lags behind that on Požar.
From Požar we continued a bit further along the ridge and then turned left towards Kot. On this path some searching for the right continuation at a bigger tree blowdown, then stop at Biščkov potok, where there was less water than in the previous post, but more than enough to quench thirst. After about 20 m, the water already lost into the depth.
Path continuation past the parking where more than ten cars were parked, and further around four km walk to the start. Both agreed it was really a good tour!
