Porze - Monte Polombino 2599 m

On Saturdays and Sundays it's possible to drive from Obertilliach to Porze hut (1942 m), which, given 220 km from Ljubljana, tipped the scales so I decided to explore a bit when mates cancelled the other tour. The limestone summit Porze (2599 m) is reachable by two not too tough secured paths: the longer one over Tilliacher Joch saddle and Italian ferrata to SE ridge, Austrian ferrata starts in 2363 m high Porze notch and goes through natural passages in north face then about a meter below the ridge on south side. Both paths completely dry, average hiker takes about two hours to top, families with lots of kids first time in hills take appropriately longer. Self-belay possible on both but to my surprise among many locals (celebrated šagra with mass on summit too) and tourists I was only one with helmet and full gear. Pity haze covered summit structure with thick fog brought by strong south wind so I checked virtual views at Deuschl.

Oh I mistyped that, Igor, sorry. On some maps it's Cima, on others Monte. Good luck figuring it out! nasmeh I went from the Austrian side and on their map it's - patriotically - only Porze.
Tilliacher Joch is Forcella Dignas in Italian, which you mention in the article on PZS forum.

No problem, it happens to me too with all these peak names, notches, pastures etc. As I saw there was fog during your visit, one more reason for a repeat visit, I also recommend Cima Vallone and traverse along the Cresta Piturina ridge (via ferrata kit), and to G. Kinigat-Monte Cavallino, great views, you won't regret it.

From the beautiful Visdende valley uphill in the morning cool to the Dignas pasture, a bit further along the road, then straight up through the grass under the wall and via the Italian protected path to the summit. From the top part of the descent along the approach route, then right down across steep grass past interesting caverns and then along the Palombino valley past Dignas pasture back to the start. Very solitary, met only one guy, on the way back in the valley Italians like leaves and grass. Regards!

Last week we also went to Porze. Up the Italian ferrata and down the Austrian. Originally we planned after descending to the notch also the Piturina ridge but the tour is too long for one day. The pitons on the Austrian side are attached to detached rocks in two places.
