Planina Sleme

Today I did a circular route: planina Kuhinja - planina Sleme - planina Pretovč - planina Kuhinja. Interesting path, full of historical landmarks. It's part of the Path of Peace. On this beautiful autumn day most hikers headed to Krn, in the described direction I was alone. Tour suitable for hikers of all categories.. smile

To Sleme via Leskovica pasture, right?
If someone feels like it and is interested in more historical sights, the route can be extended over Mrzli vrh (Hungarian chapel, Austro-Hungarian monument).

True. Mrzli vrh, which from afar looks ordinary, insignificant little hill, is full of historical secrets and testimonies. Worth a visit. Nice viewpoint over the Soča valley.

After two months I repeated the circular tour, this time in winter conditions. From planina Kuhinja past pl. Kašina and Leskovca to the path junction. Right path leads to pl. Sleme. Crossing without crampons today would be "Russian roulette", as snow deposits and small patches covered the trail, which are more or less icy and slip is almost certain at slightest carelessness. Around 12h silence was disturbed by helicopter noise flying over Krn and Batognica. At home I read sad news of a mountaineer's death on north side of Batognica. On bench above planina Sleme I enjoyed sun warmth, which below around 1000 m already nicely melted snow. Returned past pl. Pretovč on trail leading under pl. Kuhinja from east. Nice day, if subtract the shiver that strikes me every time I hear helicopter rushing to rescue. Careful, safe step and luck in mountains to you all.

Matej reported yesterday that upcoming late autumn days will be nice. I chose sunny paths above planina Polog, and the day was nicely fulfilled.

Today I was at Sleme from planina Kuhinja. Snow is somewhere up to the pasture and very wet. But the ground below is quite hard, so quite slippery. Temperature was also quite high for this time of year. What about conditions on Krn, hope those two who went up today write something winking

Two are climbing up to Krn via the gully.

Maselnik... there's already some guy at the top!

Planina Kuhinja was today the starting point and also the end point of the circular tour, planina Kuhinja - planina Leskovca - planina Sleme - village Krn - planina Kuhinja. Not much snow though, but it sinks in places up to the knees, elsewhere the path is completely icy, so caution is not superfluous. Wonderful circular path, in a wonderful almost spring-like day big smile

Yesterday at planina Sleme, Visoči vrh and Mrzli vrh. No snow (yet), but it was quite windy.

4.7.2020 - While everyone rushed to the usual starting point for Krn at pl.kuhnja, we chose village Krn for ascent to Krn. Driver drops us at village start and goes his way, we continue to pl.Pretovč and Mrzli vrh. From pl.pretovč up cart road to pl.sleme, from planina sleme with morning birdsong gently ascend to lake in Lužnica. At dreamy scenes at lake can't help finding similarity of this place with paradise, as long path awaits continue in valley under Škofič. Soon at threshold and over Batognica arrive at Krn, top big crowd awaits us, don't let bother, slowly descend to shelter under krn, turn to krnska škrbina and descent past Krn lake to dom Klementa juga in Lepena. Added up 27km and 9h.30m,, with all also one hour break at Kr.lake,, Even greater luck and tour spice is if after long time meet best friend at Krn lake..
