Mrzli vrh above Pretovč pasture - Lepoč pasture

From the hot valley chasing the cold to Mrzli vrh, but no bread came from this flour. It was scorching and stuffy up there too, according to hikers on Krn it was hellish there as well. Never mind.. definitely better than +34 in the valley for sure nasmeh. I did a circular route - Path of Peace. Literally. No one anywhere, the only person I met on the trail was the cheesemaker at Pretovč pasture. From the parking lot above Krn village on the path I prefer to the one from the village, with my 4 paws through pleasantly cool forest and really nice trail I strolled to Pretovč pasture and from there to Mrzli vrh. Wind was cooling, but around 12h it was already blazing and pleasant only in the shade anymore, which this path has in abundance. At the top of Mrzli vrh we shaded a bit, drank, cooled off, then along the ridge to Lepoč pasture and from there back to Pretovč. Path of Peace is well traceable to the chapel in the cavern, from Mrzli vrh along the ridge you can only "feel" it, because it's obviously little visited. Same goes for the "phantom trail" from Lepoč pasture onwards. We just pushed through forest, blackthorn bushes, grass ... Never mind. We got to Pretovč anyway, then towards Sleme pasture and to the start. Nice path that can be extended to Tolmin Medrja pastures and lower to Polog.

ksena, it's nice in these parts, right? My wife and I were there last year and extended the path via Tolmin planine, all the way to planina Polog, which you mention. There ... a gem you don't see every day - Memorial church of the Holy Spirit at Javorca. I recommend a visit, you won't regret it.

I completely agree with you... for all those craving the beauty of unspoiled nature and especially peace, silence, which I've been missing a lot in the mountains lately...

Laščan, yes the mountains and surroundings are gems, beautiful, the church is a reminder of the fallen defenders who fought in vain for something that will never be theirs

Interesting path, equipped with numerous field names, from Zatolmin along the road to planina Pretovč, where they made the best cheese in Tolmin this year. After ascent to Mrzli vrh descent on the eastern side towards Vodil vrh and back on the path to the starting point.

Nice Tulipan. Praise to the posters for keeping names alive that often sink into oblivion.
And one small correction. In the photo where 'Vrh nad Peski' should also be, you probably accidentally wrote 'Vrh nad Škrbino'.

On Saturday, 14.12. we were taken from the parking lot above Krn village to Pretovč pasture, then to Mrzli vrh. The path, which is part of the Path of Peace, is much better marked than a good year ago, the circular path from the top towards Lepoč pasture and then to Pretovč pasture too. No special features on the path itself. On the ascent on the north side of the peak there are remnants of snow that has turned into ice, so it slips in places. Bigger problem on the descent.

Three days my shaggy friend and I spent in the hut under Mrzli vrh, away from firecrackers and fireworks. On New Year's Day we went for a walk across Lapač pasture to Mrzli vrh, circled to Pretovč pasture and up to Sleme pasture. Ascent (at least) to Mali Stador didn't come into question because of persistent fog, so we continued to Visoč vrh and from there via "shortcut" to the Pretovč hunting hut and a bit down to the shelter and delicious late lunch.

Visits were only a sample at least during my passage, no snow up to Sleme pasture.

Yesterday I headed to Mrzli vrh (fourth or fifth time this year), of course as befits on foot from the valley on the SW side. Across the hill from about 500 to good 800 m above sea level glaze ice caused real carnage. For the ascent I chose the direction well and through the devastation came relatively easily (emphasis on relatively). At Planina Lapač about a finger of snow shows, which in the summit shady part grows to half a meter, really incredible. Summit was a bit windy, but lonely and quiet, as if asleep, over Krn it was snowing.
On descent on the other path (pathless) I ran into such devastation through which I barely made it. Trees and branches everywhere and that on soaked slope full of stones, everything was moving. Despite numerous stunt feats I got away only with a sprained finger on hand. zadrega

If anyone goes, I recommend the path from Krn village, no problems there.

Due to glaze ice the appearance of Mrzli vrh is now after 100 years again like after the first Italian shelling. After the following ones it was of course all even worse

I just hope that in the cleaning frenzy not one of the remaining mulatjeras disappears forever.

Or some other "useless" technical monument.

Poljubinjske Ravne, same story, when I was there on Sunday afternoon, and I also have long paths from Gorenja vas-Sovodenj where it was the worst - Cerkno-Tolmin-Kobarid between 500-800m, only that more towards Central Slovenia it swings between 300-800m.

Yesterday I did a circular path from Krn village across pastures Pretovč and Lapoč to Mrzli vrh and back to start. Rain, wind, sleet and fog. Path muddy, rocks slippery.
