The Julian Alps were foggy this morning, so I had to go somewhere west. I drove to the Aupo valley to the start for the Grauzario hut, but not towards the hut, across the bridge to the Zouf di Fau shelter start about 25m away. First a few hundred meters on the road, then turn to marked path 436, which higher joins the road, walk it some time, then back to trail and higher joins forest road. Soon at the shelter with stove and 4 beds. Continue to the same-name col, then on well-preserved mulatiera 435, higher between both Flops. First to the lower one, solid trail, then back a bit and up to the higher peak on path with faded red dots here and there, been there years ago but winter then. View wonderful, Grauzaria, Cima Gjaf, Sernio very close. From the peak where I make a cairn, descend west side, path completely overgrown (better return ascent way) to Foran de la Gialine saddle, down to Grauzaria hut which should be closed but is open preparing wood, open all Sat Sun Oct. Short talk, then down to start. Nice circular tour very suitable this time among beautiful mountains.
