Monte Cristallo (3221)

After Friday's visit to Croda Rossa di Sesto, on Saturday we head to a new goal. At Passo Tre Croci we ascend via paths 203 and 221 to Col de Varda and P.so dei Cristallo. Then to the right on ledges and onwards to the summit. The path from the saddle onwards is nicely marked with cairns, climbing up to good II grade in very good rock, for return there are 4 equipped belay stations for rappels. On the entire tour in our case the most ''messy'' part proved to be the upper part towards the saddle, because there was almost no snow, hence so much more ''loose stuff and sand''.

Fulfilled the wish from 5 years ago and hope I won't wait that long again for the last 2 photos.

Best, Matej

Monte Cristallo, 101% mountain, is the title of the book we were leafing through in the hut. We slept in Rifugio Son Forca, a nicely arranged hut with friendly staff and good food. Sunday morning towards this 101% mountain with rare visits, which certainly didn't hold for that day.
Start over a looong scree slope, then following cairns on exposed ledges, in between climbing as written above and exposed summit part with ridge. No more snow, but some iced rocks can still be found. Otherwise it's a mountain that demands a lot from you but also gives a lot. In short, super tour nasmeh.
