Hello!

First, let me explain the purpose of my question or topic; I don't want us to argue, because we Slovenians are already too quarrelsomewinking, but it seems to me that now, when nature in the mountains is at its peak, is the right time for this question...

I go to the hills also to observe our diverse and colorful florasmile.

But I often wonderconfused: have I already seen the most beautiful ones?
Which part/area/path/peak is the most ''paradise-like'' to you in terms of flora diversity and when (season/month).

My list is like this:
1. From Crna prst to Rodica (here are all colors)
2. From Zadnjica (Zadnje Trente) to Dolič, Triglav Lakes Valley (actually already around Komna, Koča pod Bogatinom), around Pogačnikov dom on Kriških podih
3. Nanos (from Vojkova koča to Abram and to sv. Hieronim) and Vremščica (from Volčja)

THANKSsmile, so we can see where it's ''worth'' going to look.

First, Zadnja Trenta - Zapoden and Zadnjica are two different valleys, so they shouldn't be equated. Up to Dolič there's no special flora. Triglav Lakes Valley yes, but probably Travnikova Valley is best known for that, although I like it best in autumn, when the flowers mostly wither already. Diverse flora also from Trebiški dol towards Zadnjiški glacier, and Bala valley above Bavšica, also Matajur in its season. Hard to say where it's nicer, everywhere lots of beauty is found, just need to see it. For myself I know the nicest is yet to come. But about 14 days ago regarding flora the pasture under Monte Brentoni in Italy charmed me very much.

As for flowers, the "season" is slowly concluding. The main part of flowers in mountains is in July. Then it really doesn't matter where you go, plenty everywhere. We of course enthuse most over "our" mountains (Črna prst - Rodica - Vogel, Komna area, Triglav Lakes Valley), lots also seen around Krn, on slopes of Loška stena peaks above Bala, Travniška valley... Mangartsko sedlo also very rich in floristic specialties, in short plenty everywhere, just catch the right time.

I'd say already in the second half of June - well more towards the end of the month quite a lot of flowers, mainly depends on location of individual mountains and winter snowfall amount.
I was myself in flowers of Dleskovška plateau 27.6.
I gladly look at the recommended page, I admit.
And I think we met on Planjava on 28.6.2008, at the top we were alone, and my husband and I asked for a photo, chatted for a while, among other things also about photography.
Best regards!

In the Karavanke it's of course the Struška plateau, which is well known beyond the borders due to the diversity of its flora.

The time also depends on plants' phenology. If you want to admire for example edelweiss, have to search early, gentians you find also in autumn.

I agree that there are the most edelweiss in the mountains in July. Of course, later you can always find something beautiful and interesting. These were photographed this week at Mangart saddle. LP

Hello!

The year (and which day) has turned and all seasons have passed.

THANKS for your responses (although I expected morewinking) where and when there is still something beautiful to see,...

Thanks Mr. Igor Zlodej for correcting my carelessness (Zadnjica and Zadnja Trenta or Zapoden). But also; to me the flora from Zadnjica to Dolica is still beautiful: Zois' bellflower and rare gentian and other small flowers persisting in the rocks attract me,...smile
