On the other side of the stream above the dam, really nice pathless terrain starts towards Matkova Kopa. To the central gully it's a rocky path; snow from here today made no problems, so no winter gear was needed. The traverse path to Kopa is still snowy in many parts and it was really great that the snow was at least soft enough that no crampons were needed. At a slightly lower temperature, winter gear would have been necessary. I ascended to the summit on the right side, descended as one usually ascends. I've been along the ridge from Jerebič over the needles to Mrzla Gora before; this one today was the first time. Matkova Krnica has a nice amount of snow, which was medium-softened. The start is rocky towards Krnička Gora, the last steep part is snowy, so winter gear is necessary. I continued on, as it was visible that there was just enough snow right there where I would ascend straight to Mrzla Gora. I could have descended to Latvica, but when you're here you really don't delay much if you also visit the 2203 m high summit. Descent to Latvica and along snow tongues past Škaf to the valley. Škaf will only start to form slowly; in June there will be more visible. Currently, due to the snow base the descent is really fast and nice. In dry conditions this descent doesn't rate highly for me. In such softened snow I definitely wouldn't ascend Mrzla Gora on this marked path; I'd rather go up the ridge twice than this "mess". It was really nice, a sunny morning especially on these three summits.

Krnička-Mrzla Gora (20.10.22)

After work I drove to Matkov Kot.
I took the middle variant towards Matkova Kopa; I wasn't far from the upper path, but that one better for next time. Afternoon already short. Super path leads to the krnica, where slowly from the fog at 1800 m I break into heaven. Somehow I knew it should be something like that, but still not that insanely good. From Krnička along the NE ridge still to Mrzla Gora; this pathless terrain is still all as it was. The only difference is that I always take it along a slightly different line. Descent by the classic route to the valley.

M.Kopa-Krnička-Mrzla Gora (17.06.23)

After work I drive to Matkov Kot to explore a bit more the NE side of Matkova Kopa. The middle path was current and after yesterday's showers it was very humid. Unlike when ascending towards the tooth, now I was descending under it. The caves by the tooth are really nice. From here follows a traverse to the right, which is a bit confusing. I preferred to descend the gully and traverse lower across it; I also saw that it would be possible a bit higher across. There was some exploring, but since I knew I didn't have only Matkova Kopa planned, I had to hurry the ascent a bit. The windows above the tooth I know where they are, but they didn't interest me; what interests me will remain for next time. This side is real wilderness and it's quite hard to push through all that brush. After MK I descend to the ridge over Iglice. With every ascent over it, it seems longer to me. From Krnička Gora to Mrzla Gora I hurried, so I had a bit less than half an hour to the summit. There's still snow in Latvica and a bit lower there's still some. Ice axe very very recommended, crampons optional. Škaf is still a few meters. Nice warm afternoon, without any danger of showers.
