Today a nice circular path to the mentioned peaks from the direction of Srednji vrh. The path itself without special features, except that the chain before the summit of Ostra peč is no longer there. Wonderful views. Nice mountaineering greeting.

Today we did a nice circular path starting at Srednji vrh. Continued on cart track to hunting hut and further past Grajšco pasture to Kresišče summit. After short break along ridge to Maloško poldne and on to Murnovc. From Murnovc descent to hunting hut and past Železnica to the starting point. Nice tour, quite cold, we were also treated to some views.

Today a nice tour among golden yellow larches, Srednji vrh-hut at Lepi vrh-Trupejevo poldne-Maloško poldne-Ostra peč-Kresišče.

The Karavanke ridge above Martuljek really has a special charm.
Not particularly high, so we can admire the mighty peaks on the other side of the valley: Martuljek group with Špik, the ridge of Mojstrovke and Jalovec.
Relatively narrow: on the north side we have Carinthia at hand (yesterday all under cloud cover), on the south Gorenjska.
And two weeks in mid-autumn the most beautiful forests in Slovenia. If you're lucky, 5 cm of snow falls the previous day...

I vote for the establishment of a national park, full name National Park Rute!

This Thursday after a good month I was finally back in the mountains. By train I got to Baško jezero and past the ruins of Altfinkenstein castle to the unfortunately closed Baumgartnerhof. Here I continued on a very foggy path towards Grpiška planina and Korensko sedlo. At some house a dog wanted to join me, but the owners quickly angrily called it back smile

. At over 1000m I finally emerged from the fog and started steeply ascending towards Ostra peč. The last 150m of elevation on the steep part of the path had about 10cm of untouched snow. Luckily the snow was very soft and crampons were not needed (luckily, because I didn't have them with me). From the summit a beautiful view opened to the Hohe Tauern and Julijce. I climbed to the neighboring Kresišče, then due to the somewhat late hour quickly descended the usual path along the Rotschitz stream valley. In Bače I was unpleasantly surprised that despite the week no restaurant, cafe or shop was open.

This morning circular from Srednji vrh past Trupej over Maloško poldne to Kresišče and back on the lower path under Lepi vrh. Nice, nice. Despite Sunday very few people, a fox and a few marmots that I haven't met in Slovenian mountains before. The return path on the road past the hunting hut under Lepi vrh slightly boring but the beauties of the ridge path cover that too. Almost no snow left, surely I'll return.
