Laguna Churup is a glacial lake in the Andes, specifically in the Cordillera Blanca, just a little above Huaraz. It's a very popular spot for visitors, both those setting off on shorter independent hikes and for acclimatization before more serious endeavors. The path is mostly easy, only a short section right below the lake is demanding, with some fixed ropes to help, and below that slippery wet granite rock.
Peak season hasn't come yet, but this year it's quite obvious that after 2 corona years tourism has dropped greatly and won't return to those pre-corona years anytime soon. In a way, that's not so bad...
The landscape is very different from ours.

Interesting report and photos.
If I compare prices to those 35 years ago, the plane ticket is now half the price, living costs and entrance fees higher though. Definitely at least 5x more accessible for us than back then in the former country.

I can imagine yeah, back then it was much harder to access. Now really remote areas... almost none left.

I meant financially.nasmeh
But probably now more tourist-developed.
I saw there's a hut under the glacier below Huascaran. Back then really nothing there. I was there a good month with mates and did 4 trips to various peaks.

Financially definitely yeah nasmeh
Some huts Italians built. Locals often don't look on it with enthusiasm. Rumors were that under Fujimori the one with money built in parks without issues...
