Today I was at the Hut at Krn Lakes from Lepena. First third of the path bare then to the bench some snow, a bit further all covered. Snowpack at the gauge thick over 170 cm. Hut serviced by friendly young staff nasmeh

I'm curious how the summit is otherwise accessible at this time from the Krn Lakes direction? Is it very demanding?

Thanks

Krn summit now accessible via Škrbina or Batognica. Last weekend reached Škrbina on ski touring skis and skied back. Summer path not suitable so go straight to Škrbina. Morning when snow still hard smart to have crampons later when soft not.

We enjoyed two days in the comfort of the open Hut at Krn Lakes. On the path from Lepena compacted snow starts a little above 1200m. Snow at the snow gauge is already less than 120cm.
First day we skied from Batognica, two went from the top on foot to Krn. Despite warm weather the skiing was excellent.
Second day we went to Velika Baba. Excellent conditions there too.

Today, despite bad weather forecast and light sprinkling from fog, we persisted and went to Krn Lake. Last quarter of path snow starts, at snow gauge approx 1m. At the Welcome sign sun wanted to greet us, but didn't succeed well. Worth persisting, also due to friendly staff at hut at Krn Lakes, where they welcomed and served us very nicely! In short wonderful day in good company! Highly recommend!!velik nasmeh

Today was a really wonderful day. We decided to go from Lepena to Krn Lakes. Lots of snow on path. Winter fairy tale. Very warm though walking was a bit harder as sinking but no problems. Hut open guys very friendly. Cook excellent jota.nasmeh

Today the Hut at Krn Lakes ended the winter season. Still about a meter of snow and nothing shows winter leaving. Today, though still a holiday due to worse valley weather, less visited, though sun greeted us at lake and Duplje pasture. Will reopen early June.
