Today on Saturday 17.3.2012 by bike to the highest peak of Haloze - 623 meters high Jelovice from starting point Zgornja Sveča - Winettu.

Route:Jelovice MTB, 17.03.2012

Ascent done along Stoperška planinska pot to the top of Jelovice and continuing along Haloška planinska pot to the main point of Jelovice - chapel of Sv. Bolfenka. Return intentionally a bit roundabout on more demanding forest paths and tracks for a more concrete insight into the area between Zgornja Sveča and Jelovice and final descent to the very center of the narrow Zgornja Sveča settlement for a solid circular finish. Interesting and quite challenging route, quite some walking beside the bike on today's solitary paths, which especially on the return part I assume "felt the bike for the first time". Probably another return and ride on the eastern part of Haloze Jelovice. Weather pleasant - sunny, except quite annoying and at times very strong wind on today's dry - quite dusty paths with plenty of dry fallen leaves.
Jelovice ...Jelovice...1
Jelovice ...starting point Zgornja Sveča - road to Winettu along Skralska stream...2
Jelovice ...better by the fish and beer... but I'm going ,,matrat,, for Jelovice...3
Jelovice ...already quite soon on the Stoperška mountain path it is steep...4
Jelovice ...by the haloška beech...5
Jelovice ...below haloška homestead but I think there is no longer permanent life in it...6
Jelovice ...here there is still life and a big dog rushed in front of my bike...7
Jelovice ...already above the homestead and the lady promised that he will be tied up on return...8
Jelovice ...rest by the haloški kamen...9
Jelovice ...the path here is really beautiful...10
Jelovice ...some path is already behind me...11
Jelovice ...ramp and they have well ,,notched,, it so that keri wouldn't get stuck in it...12
Jelovice ...in this section conifers predominate...13
Jelovice ...hut of the Slovenia Forest Service OE Maribor on Jelovice...14
Jelovice ...,,jagrov,, were not around on Jelovice today...15
Jelovice ...And here Stoperška planinska pot joins Haloška planinska pot...16
Jelovice ...right below the summit...17
Jelovice ...and already on the summit of 623 m high Jelovice - highest peak of all Haloz and one of the goals of today's tour...18
Jelovice ...Ptujska gora and Kidričevo and more!?...19
Jelovice ...the view also carried towards Pohorje...20
Jelovice ...and past the weekend - towards Sv. Bolfenk...21
Jelovice ..pleasant descent...22
Jelovice ...,,bob steza,, on Jelovice...23
Jelovice 24
Jelovice 25
Jelovice ...and already on return towards the west, because Sv. Bolfenk on Jelovice was the easternmost point of the path today...26
Jelovice ...dawn from the path back to the summit...27
Jelovice ...a little detour also towards Kupčnji vrh for the ,,good feeling,, of today's path but not too much...28
Jelovice ...direction is known but on descent path correction and a little around on forest paths and clearings...29
Jelovice 30
Jelovice ...this little path, I don't know if a dog has ever seen it...31
Jelovice ...unique parking spot on Jelovice - on a half-rotten log...32
Jelovice ...uf, it's good...33
Jelovice ...sun and shade, most of all annoying wind...34
Jelovice ...I corrected the direction slightly southwards and past the dog by the homestead today - I won't let go...35
Jelovice ...descent along the right narrower path...36
Jelovice ...that was really the right one...37
Jelovice ...something else for geologists & geographers!?...38
Jelovice ..the path was promising...39
Jelovice ...yeah, if one could make oil from fallen leaves for example!? - that would be a real deal...40
Jelovice ...slightly tired - !?old good TREK...41
Jelovice ...,,the question is of course who!? wrote this or ,,snored from the easy chair,,...42
Jelovice ...descent downwards and ,,somehow I'll get out of the Haloze Jelovice woods...43
Jelovice ...and it really was nice in the woods today...44
Jelovice ...45
Jelovice ...already close to civilization and I somehow assumed that I would get out of the forest...46
Jelovice ...in the narrower part of the settlement Zgornja Sveča and it was so... another few hundred meters of asphalt along the Skralska stream to the starting point at the junction for Winettu and some new insights into the Haloze world of the western part of J47

On Wednesday holiday 15.08.2012 with mountain bike one of the sharper combinations of three peaks Boč & Plešivec & Jelovice in one of the hardest variants. For some time I planned from Poljčane connection Boča 978 m.a.s.l. and highest Haloze peak - Jelovice 623 m.a.s.l. short in kms and high in elevation meters. Somehow I put together at start combination of Roman roads, forest road to tower and newly laid forest tracks for breakthrough to tower and to Kostrivnik part of Boč and then continued on Štajerska bratska pot to Vrhovski farm. Between Vrhovski farm and Jelovice peak I used Stoperška PP and from Jelovice peak to Sv. Bolfenka church still Haloška PP...then jezik gas on asphalt home, because "mud, dust and elevation" I had enough. Trails today practically dry and on mežikanje such base no damage done. Quite dynamic trail that practically doesn't allow rest and due to tricky base constant focus. Good that I didn't have a heart rate monitor with me, because "rpm" went pretty high and into red zone.

Track:Boč & Plešivec & Jelovice MTB, 15.08.2012

Trails despite drought also quite overgrown and full of stones, branches and decayed trunks. Cold drink supply right on trail - Gavez, pond on Ravnocerje plateau, Winettu - I personally skipped and Lončarič at Sv. Bolfenka. mežikanje Probably some repetition and on Jelovice turn a bit south...for even more elevation. But Winettu ponds by Skralska stream destruction squared - visitors mess it up, you wonder mežikanje if you'll climb to the mud....Jelovice or rather go "fishing and cold beer"....

26.03.2013 hiking in "real winter" to highest Haloze peak - 623m high Jelovice and this time for change & novelty somewhat more eastern start - from Jesenica stream valley in Naraplje/Poluce, at bus stop or where asphalt road to Jelovice branches off. That's also E7 trail route and the path rises superbly along northeast ridge. Slope is proper and nice to cut track into endless white of highest Haloze summit and collect elevation.

mežikanjeSnow fell properly deep and erased tracks behind me. At Sv. Bolfenka church - patron of Jelovice and surroundings decision for extension - "if I'm here once anyway"...to the very top and had to wade again into even deeper dry snow. Up to 40cm new snow and higher drifts in upper part. Over weekend also to very top and slightly down to junction with Stoperška hiking trail, so hiking measure for today was right. Northeast wind, snow dry and temp around -7C, step still quite reliable.

GPS track:Jelovice/NarapljeE7, 26.03.2013

Yes, nasmehJelovice suitable and like this midweek optimal choice for "short Haloze story". Somewhat north of Boč and Donačka gora and that's already quite rugged Haloze world between Skralska stream west and Jesenica east and directly below Jelovice peak Haloška and Stoperška paths join and few kms - to Donačka gora common path and thread-idea of Haloze world.
Best regards Bruno/bruny
Naraplje and Jasenica stream...1
...a few dozen meters along the road and then sharply left on the meadow path...2
...the footbridge is not reliable and I preferred to ford the stream...3
...wonderful ascent in the forest...4
...exemplarily marked...yes, this is the Haloški world...5
...still in the forest and directly in front of...6
...exit onto the road...7
...higher into the world of the highest peak of the Haloz...8
...yes, a nice winter snapshot along the path...9
...path junction below Sv. Bolfenk...10
...E7 and from the junction onwards also the Haloška mountain trail...11
...Sv. Bolfenk and someone was active ahead of me but made the ascent either by road or directly from Naraplje !?...12
...and already in the track to the very summit...13
...yes, ,,virgin,, was that whiteness...14
...play of snowflakes in early spring...15
...snow drifts-deposits below the summit...16
...and on the weekend I waded in...17
...Jelovice peak and ...even surveyors have ,,messed it up,,...18
...and the path junction to Donačka gora on the left or Winettu on the right...19
...already on the descent back to the valley of the Jasenica/Naraplje stream...20
...Lončarič homestead & St. Bolfenk from the direction of Jelovice peak...Thanks for attention and Lp.21

Nice, no doubt, but I'd have one question: where are actually these Haloze if that's the highest peak. Sometimes it was somehow different. And Resenik and Donačka, where are they? Geographically I know eastern Karavanke. If Žetale no longer in Haloze then really don't know, eastern peak on Donačka is Žetalski at least locals say so.

nasmehYeah, "that's how it is" that Jelovice [is the] highest Haloze peak [claims] hard science and not some mežikanje "bruny" and I just summarize that fact. Excellent explanation of Haloze probably checked on firmer grounds here...Source:. Of course among people it's different... eastern is Žetalski, western under Rogatec and so on... Anyway [it's necessary to] write correct and verifiable facts and that's what I did. Regards - safe and rugged step, wherever.

No problem bruny, somehow they taught me different, someone will have to draw a map where what is. It's like that now even Haložani don't know where home is.zmeden

Afternoon by mountain bike from Poljčane and this year for the first time to the highest peak of Haloze - Jelovice. This time in a new variant from Zgornja Sveča settlement along the forest road, which is "real Styria". Surprised me, I assume newly installed forest barrier right at the forest entrance, while the other one under the hut of the Forestry Institute Maribor unit I already know well mežikanje. No worry, they don't act as "toll booth" and ascent to Jelovice is mežikanje still free. The steepness is proper and somewhere proper MTB was between 18 & 26 km, the rest "skating in crampons" on asphalt.

Route:Jelovice, 30.06.2013

mežikanjeYes, Jelovice sound quite similar to the much better known Jelovica but Jelovice represent the highest Haloze world and worth MTB visit and record. Somehow they "break into" the world between Boč, Plešivec, Donačka gora, Macelj and embed into it in a positive sense. In the narrower area of Jelovice around 500 elevation meters today in pleasant sunny weather and dry paths.

Today partly along Stoperška planinska pot on foot and that from the valley of Skralska stream/Winettu Zgornja Sveča to the highest peak of Haloze 623 meters high Jelovice. From the top of Jelovice extension to the peak - Kerješetov vrh, 590 meters high where today for the first time. It is somewhat left above the mountain path towards the church of Sv. Bolfenka, unfortunately no views, the peak is rounded. Somewhere it was logical to extend to Sv. Bolfenka on Jelovice which I did. On return partly along the same route except in the last part descent along forest road to Zgornja Sveča settlement for partly circular activity. It was a solid insight into the western part of Jelovice, paths today wet and partly muddy. Met no one, these paths are more solitary although part of the activity was also along Haloška planinska pot. Still some new insights in the highest part of Slovenian Haloze, solid elevations for not exactly high world...

Highest peak of Haloze...623 meters high Jelovice in the afternoon target of short hiking activity. After two years and some again. Start and finish by Skralska stream in Zgornja Sveča near Winettu. Up and down along the same route. Relatively "steep" ascent, practically non-stop ascent. From the top view towards north and east...most prominent point definitely Ptujska gora with Marian pilgrimage church and in the background aluminum giant - Talum. Somewhat lower from the forest hut Jelovice view possible all the way to Boč, Plešivec and Donačka gora with multitude of lower peaks. Boč and Donačka gora/peaks today in slight haze. Path dry, sunny, some light wind...Met no one...more solitary and rarely visited is this path...also part of Stoperška planinska pot...

Route...Strava/Jelovice 623...highest peak of Haloze

The highest peak of the Haloze - Jelovice is currently not exactly a pride of the Haloze world. The peak is currently being overgrown... shrubs, thorns and similar vegetation are spreading. It would definitely deserve better marking and at the signs at the junction a few dozen meters below the peak also the installation of an appropriate directional sign to/for the peak. In my opinion, most of those seeking recreation at the peak do not recognize it here. It could easily become, alongside the much more established and recognizable Donačka gora, which however is not part of the Haloze, an important promotion of the Haloze world, the municipality of Majšperk, Stoperce... Personally I like the Haloze world and the highest peak would deserve a bit more. Somewhat out of the topic context but in the broader sense of understanding the space and the importance of the peak mežikanje perhaps this entry is needed or not. Best regards!
August 2013, today the summit is somewhere in the first stage of overgrowth...1

From Zgornje Sveče/Winettu along the Skralska stream hiking to the highest peak of Haloze and back. The 623-meter-high Jelovice are slowly turning to autumn colors but summer green still prevails. Along the route lots of chestnuts that have borne richly… The path is partly wet and on some sections muddy and slippery. In a three-kilometer ascent varied relief on different surfaces. The classic forest mountain path still prevails. It is also part of Stoperška planinska poti and excellently marked. Directly below the peak junction and connection with Haloška pot. mežikanjeMini activity but nasmehit was pleasant in the early Sunday afternoon…Strava/Jelovice623 Haloze,16.10.2016 and Pešpoti/Jelovice 623 Haloze,16.10.2016 Regards!

Some impressions from yesterday's trip Doklece - Bolečka vas - Janški Vrh - Naraplje - Jelovice - Stogovci - Doklece.
The path is normally passable, only around Naraplje village it is worse marked.
