Čukla (1767 m)

On Sunday 7.3.2021 on Čukla.
Daily guesses how much snow there is on the summit, how much in the valleys below it... There was no choice but to go up and check.velik nasmeh
Start from Zavrzlna. The path was dry for quite a while. About 15 min before Goričica, snow finally appeared. Suddenly half a meter of it.
From Goričica onwards more and more snow-covered. I was fairly early and the snow was still frozen, but more frequent small patches of wind-blown snow. Via winter "shortcut" to the upper flank
and with reliable steps to the top. Last part solidly frozen and crampons gripped great...
That day the summit was "mine alone". Though not so cold on top, I preferred some sitting in the sun on return at Goričica. nasmeh
The sun already has its power, so snow softened nicely on return in some spots...

Somewhere between Rombon and Krnica… we already "tracked" a mulatiero some time ago, but due to lack of time we didn't finish it, so on Sunday we finally decide to check where the "path" that isn't one goes, over/through Mrtvaška glava to Čukla.
Our "mama A." saves us from too long initial searchingmežikanje, as she already explored where to start and from Zavrzelno we're already puffing on the modest path and higher we reach the mulatiero where we last gave up. In some description it says to follow the end of the mulatiero, then steeply into the grass where every path disappears… well, yes, it really disappears and grasses are insolently steepvelik nasmeh, but tussocks big enough to grabjezik! Here my non-elegance comes out, how to get foot up to next step which is so steep, my body barely manages such stretching exercisesvelik nasmeh. Despite no visible path, we gain height fast, how not, we're going straight up. Faithful companion wind, sun on one side, dark clouds on the other, in between cheerful snowflakes dance and play, creating a real mixed weather idyll. Then the world calms by about half a degree of slopevelik nasmeh, we look for best passage. In between we stumble on ruins of structures, where it seems to us, also by height, that there's a transverse mulatiero to point 1313, but we leave it for next time and keep climbing higher. My companion to the right, me to the left and excitement when I spot the stone pyramid up there, sparked loud, uncontrolled whoop in me, which of course got lost in strong windvelik nasmeh, but puzzle over Mrtvaška glava solved. Since we decide not to fight wind to Rombon summit, below in shelter of bushes we snack, climb to Čukla top and of course, idea comeseek not minezavijanje z očmi. What if we don't go straight to valley but explore some more there. Of course I gave in, to whom if not to the hillsjezik and we're already descending to Goričica on marked path, then on pasture we turn behind hunting hut, to modest path which in forest turns into incredibly beautiful preserved mulatiero, lit by sun, slight autumn colors, you really forget the purpose was opposite, what's nice today evokes pleasant feelings. Mulatiero winds under walls, a bit up, a bit down and in forest we spot at least three very well trodden paths, with one concrete option, so blisters grow. Slight peek out of forest, crosses grass, back to forest and soon at junction with marked path from Krnica, then past pasture and back to Zavrzelno.
We thought we'd save time and height without visiting Rombon, hehee, but we ticked one more puzzle, but at least five new ones were "born".
Very nice, it's about lonely paths, preserved mulatjeres, where new paths, new ideas appear on the go, and reminder of times we mustn't forget so they never repeat… really great tour above Bovec and lots more to do...nasmeh

Čukla/whatever from home on the edge of Bovec we head to Čukla. Current conditions are very mixed, the path is now trodden but doesn't offer carefree steps. To Pl. Goričica it is fairly normal, from Goričica parts of the path sink in up to there, suddenly hard as concrete, then sinking again and icy short but very dangerous traverses. Generally for experienced trailblazing, slipping, picking from brush under snow, banging on rocks etc., it's idealvelik nasmehvelik nasmehvelik nasmeh. Weather for this time more than excellent.
