Creton dell'Arco via ferrata Simone and Creton di Culzei

The mentioned mountains belong more to the Dolomites than to the Carnic Alps since they are in the province of Veneto left of the Piave, but it doesn't matter, they are beautiful and always worth visiting. With my colleague we were at 8:00 at the starting point in Sunny Valley - Sappada, more precisely near Pecsa sportiva, where path 317 starts. Along the road closed to public traffic to the artificial lake, then along the forest track and further on a nice alpine path to passo dell'Arco, which is a fantastic viewpoint on the surrounding mountains, especially the nearby Siere, Terze, various Cretone and of course the Dolomites to the west. There is also a small memorial with pictures of those who died in the mountains and in silence we paid respect to the deceased, especially to Simone after whom the ferrata is named, which we stepped onto just behind the dell'Arco pass to the right upwards. At first it's a plain little path, soon we hit the first cable, which wouldn't even be necessary, higher up the real secured path started, the scrambling was really enjoyable, but oh well, it ended soon. Followed marked pathless terrain to the summit of Creton dell'Arco, then again a nice path all the way to the junction with the famous 50 towers ferrata (ferrata Cinquanta del Clap) to the summit of Creton di Culzei (2458m), which we of course already know well. After a short break at the top we descended the secured path to the Alpina saddle (Forca dell'Alpino) from there north to bivouac Damiana del Gobbo. There we found the entry of Petrov's group from Celje from a few days ago, then along the lower path under 322 under Col Lanar back down to the start. Beautiful loop tour, we were a bit disappointed with the short Simone ferrata, otherwise magnificent surroundings, among well-known and mostly already visited mountains. Recommend to experienced hikers.

Where else, muttered the car, when for the third time in the last twelve days I told it to take me to Sappada. The parking lot was deserted, as was the Zieglhutte hut by the namesake lakelet, where there was no one. Birdsong echoed in the quiet morning. I warmed up to Passo dell'Arco, there the real thing began. Ferrata Simone to the summit of Creton dell'Arca was a pleasure-filled foreplay before the act that happened next on ferrata Cinquanta del Clap to the summit of Creton di Culzei, the climax I experienced after the varied and lively descent to the Forca dell'Alpino saddle. From there to the valley there was just enough descent for the emotions to calm and the act to be etched deeply in memory. Just before the lakelet it started sprinkling, there I treated myself to a cold drink at the inn and relished the bliss. When after wonderful Martuljek, Trent and other local experiences you think that's it, you discover Siere, Terze and more in the Karnic mountains. And when you think now that's really it, you discover Cretone and their surroundings and at the end of the day you are completely overwhelmed by all the beauty, since you know that this is far from it and there is enough for several lifetimes. Unlike the predecessors, we parked at the donkey parking lot by the Piave. Path 316 starts right after the bridge and leads along the most rutted forest road towards Siera pass. Direction signs and markers start after about 10 min walking and after about 45 min we turn left onto path 317 which crosses the stream and slowly climbs through larches to Passo dell'Arco. From here we went the same way as already described - complete loop tour velik nasmeh. Nice, very varied tour. Saturday was a good choice; views from the top solid, it burned us a bit on the descent in that scrub. First drops fell when we started, real rain caught us already on the way to Cima Sappada mežikanje

mirank,
sections are numbered so that if you notice damage on the protections, you can precisely say which "section" the damage is on. At least at the start of ferrata Simone there is a sign with this warning and request to inform the responsible CAI section about possible damages.

Yes, that's what it says on that light sign on sl 34 (under the red); just that I hadn't noticed it until a week agonasmeh
