Every hiker should have a compass, what do you say about this one.

Kibuba also has some compasses

That Field 7 from Silva looks okay-ish, for more demanding work something like this:

If you want top gear, nothing beats M53 compass velik nasmeh

60 EUR eek

Just last week I bought hiking compass for 6 EUR like first link.
Those on transparent baseplate more handy for map reading, cos... guess... flat and longer. velik nasmeh
Actually folding compasses usually have ruler to read azimuth easily. Non-folding no ruler, readings inaccurate. (reading without ruler)
Think what you'd need.

Those transparent baseplate compasses much handier for map work, yes. Ruler though, dunno; for normal orientation and position on map non-folding were always enough, cos you don't need perfect azimuths. Plus/minus degree or two no big deal nasmeh

First compass from pic hard to tell if classic magnetic needle or Japanese where whole dial spins. Opinions divided, but I want magnetic needle separate from dial. Set azimuth nicely, action.

No, let's move on.

For folding compasses like the one in the first link, the following features are very welcome:
- swivel part around the magnetic needle has at least one fluorescent strip for easier reading at night or in the dark
- compass housing should have a hole to tie it to a lanyard
- housing must be made of metal
- wire or ruler must be attached with screws for easy replacement. I've seen wire that was simply welded/pinned.
