Cmir, where is this mountain in the shadow of Triglav. But the ascent is so nice. I went. First over Rž to Stanič. Hut is already closed. On Kredarica it was blowing. The whole path to the top really calm and warm. Path goes behind Begunjski vrh. In between two small fixed ropes. At least that's what they told me. Then almost to the top path along the ridge with views. I already thought there wouldn't be anyone anymore. But some hikers came too.

On Cmir on Wednesday 2.8. we didn't meet anyone. We went from Kot valley to Stanič where we overnighted. Quite hot that day. We waited a few hours for it to cool a bit before heading up the mountain.
First time from Kot valley.1
Rest behind the thick rock.2
They have nicely laid out the path.3
At Stanič.4
How many gentians on the path to Cmir.5
Such an ascent is perfectly fine. We took only one backpack. The rest we left in the hut.6
Some fixed ropes.7
As if on another planet.8
Summit is already visible9
Although it was afternoon, the sun still had power.10
We stayed for a while.11
Dolkova špica and Škrlatica can be seen....12
Another group one.13
Another view towards the summit while descending.14
In the evening it thundered towards Austria.15

Today via Kot to Cmir and back. Nice weather, occasional mists and clouds. Larger snow patches start around 2000m, on shady sides snow is hard in the morning but occasionally breaks through. For areas of more demanding shady snowfields above this altitude winter gear is therefore mandatory. In the afternoon it softens also on shady sides.

From Begunjski vrh onwards the path is bare, the fixed cables too completely snow-free. Triglav, nicely visible from Cmir, has quite a lot of snow deposits on the north side, snow conditions will certainly change significantly in a day or two.

Also mention the quite awkward descent back via Kot, from altitude approx 1700 m to the spring (cca 1340m) rocks wet and quite slippery, from spring down some 150 vertical meters also muddy. Glad for every protection.

On the way up we walked one part together with friendly hiker from Carinthia, heading to Triglav, don't know how it went for him. Apparently ice axe not needed for summit, just crampons.
Mists, clouds and sun above Rjavina1
The path from Begunjski vrh onwards is completely snow-free, all aids are also without snow.2
The valley Za Cmirom is not yet ready for ski touring.3
Cmir, proud giant.4
It seems the snow on Triglav will not melt away completely this year.5
Rjavčeve glave and Begunjski vrh, behind of course Očak.6
Snow patches below Begunjski vrh. Manageable without crampons, but not for long...7
Luknja peč all in thin crusts.8

Short video and a few pics from the hike to Cmir, September 5 this year. It was planned to edit the video earlier so it could be useful to someone for an easier idea of the path, but I ran out of time or the snow in the mountains overtook me. Ascent via Lojze Rekar's path over Vrbanove špice, descent past Staničev dom.

Good luck and safe in the mountains, Mirko

Conditions at Cmir before snowfall were good for ascent over north wall, descent behind Cmir would be better on skis. velik nasmeh

Yesterday above Vrata valley. Last abundant mostly refrozen. Thaw doing its thing. When you wish for Dončić shoe sizes... Lots walked but all old and not from Cmir. Due to softer snow and spikes on crampons I turn below rock slabs some 150m below summit into foggy valley. A few minutes before 12 - before car I catch strong thunder towards Stenar. Was 4th car at counter at 7:00 mežikanje

A few pics from behind Cmir with extension past Staničev dom to Kredarica. Below hard, icy, higher super. Skiing on Triglav fields 'poetry'.
