I'm also interested in a recommendation; since I visit mountains only in summer, my old leather gojzarji have taken my soul (4 years old). What do you recommend for purchase so that "nails" don't suffer when descending. Thanks for any well-meant advice. LP

To prevent nails from hurting on the downhill walk, two things are recommended: 1. half size larger boot 2. trimmed nails The best is the combination of both .

Currently using Alpina Anapurna and Tundra. If toes sometimes hurt (on very long tours: Triglav/day etc.), not exactly nails, then I know I didn't descend most successfully, or correctly. Both models quite comfortable and cheap for me. Tundra has no Vibram. Doesn't bother me yet. Especially like that latter can be polished with classic shoe cream. Suede leather sprays vary (some destroy seams) and quite expensive.
