How many times have I driven over Ljubelj and didn't even suspect what a gem is hidden beneath it. Today I visited it. I started early in the morning. At the Zlata voda refreshment place I paid entrance fee 6.50 euros which includes also bus transport to the starting point. I walked the entire gorge, ending in Žabnica. The two waterfalls, devil's bridge and especially some primal wilderness impressed me most. Worth visiting in these hot days, because pleasant cool blows through the gorge and the amount of water is enormous due to snow melting. Although it's one of the most visited tourist spots in Carinthia, I met no one except workers who were maintaining the path. Regards!

Where is the starting point, how long does it take and is the path suitable for vertigo sufferers? Thanks for the answer.

If you drive over Ljubelj "to the other side", there is a large arranged parking lot on the left side, a bit before Austrian Podljubelj. That's also the start. It is possible to see the lower part up to the crossing over the main road or the upper part up to Žabnica. For the return you use the bus, which you pay for with the entrance fee. Some passages (bridges, galleries) are quite critical for vertigo sufferers, otherwise everything is solidly secured.

You pay entrance fee even if you don't use the bus, and also if you go in the opposite direction. There is a discount with PZS card. nasmeh

Depends on the chosen goal. At least three possible exits, if you go all the way to the end about 2-3 hours (depending how much you linger around), the short one is about 1.5 hours in my opinion. In any case, whoever hasn't been should go see it. Not too strenuous, you gain about 400 meters of elevation, but picturesque.

Today in the coolness through the gorge. Entrance fee now 7€, for PD members 5.5. First bus back goes only at one, so we chose to walk back too (from Nemški Peter). Nothing bad of course. So cool near the water that you could comfortably have a living room there, or treat yourself to the spring of strength, love and youth jezik

, walking barefoot on a special path, learn something about flowers and little animals, and more... Nice.

If you have enough time, it's worth at the waterfall going right towards Poden valley - Bodental (about 1 hour) on a pleasant path along the stream to Serajnik inn (bus), or even to Podnarj.

I walked this wonderful gorge today in really good company of the "Vandrovci". We started with umbrellas and as befits persistent ones, soon after entry we were rewarded even with individual sun rays. More http://stezeinsledi.blogspot.com/2014/06/najmogocnejsa-soteska-v-karavankah-cepa.html

If this topic exists somewhere, I don't know where to find it.
Yesterday visited beautiful Tscheppaschlucht gorge about 4 km from Ferlach, or about 15 km from Ljubelj border crossing.
For visiting the gorge we needed about 3 hours of easy walking, then we also went to the ends outside it which are also exceptionally beautiful.

Kafetarca, if you want to get to the location from picture 34 go towards Windisch Bleiberg on the map from picture 4.
You can get there by asphalt too if you can't find your way on paths, up there is the end of the road.

The road goes to the farm from picture 33 and picture 34 was taken from the same place as also picture 34.

The path through Čepa gorge caught my eye on this portal, so we went on an outing with the family today. Family ticket two adults, two kids 13 and 9, including bus from Nemški Peter to start, cost us 36€, all-day parking 6€. We did the gorge path in three hours, no rush. smile
