Because the invitation came completely unexpectedly and unplanned and since it has already proven several times to be the best, this time I was already speeding past Tolmezzo towards the place Timau. After a sleepless night we were already staring at Creta di Timau in the morning (23.04.2011), which tempted us a loooot, but it will wait, so we decide, since the legs are quite heavy, for an easier tour. We start a bit above the place Timau-, where there's parking on the left side, signs on the right, we follow path no.400, then 402a and 402, which takes us via forest path to the "hut" Palgrande di Sopra at height 1705m. Here we follow the markings for some time longer, but they soon disappear under the snow so we "tackle" the unmarked ridge from Passo di Pal Grande (1760m) to Passo Cavallo (1622m), where marked path no.413 joins and leads to the summit of Freikofel (1757m). We continued on path 401 and 401a, then at height approx. 1545m, where there's a junction, we turned right onto 161, which brings back to the starting point.
