Tacca del Cridola

Divine morning in Forni di Sopra. Another km ahead and left to parking, then in under 45 min. to Giaf hut and onwards to Scodavacca saddle, from there directly up to Tacca del Cridola. Up to here nice marked and dry path, only on Tacca quite some scree. Of course on Tacca what I kinda expected showed up, that was snow on north side. Due to snow we gave up summit ascent, some spots reach II degree secured, except a few bolts. Returned by ascent path.

Actually had to settle debt from last year when we only got to Tacca and turned back from Cridola due to snow on north side. Start still km or two from Forni di Sopra towards Mauria pass, then look left for road to Giaf hut. On nice path to Giaf hut, then to Scodavacca saddle. Above saddle short break, left packs in bushes (rarely do that), then tackled steep to Tacca notch, reached it incredibly fast and scree didn't seem bad this time cuz week ago did much worse gullies. On smooth as butter (my second ascent) almost to top, there slowed cuz three young guys roped up at exposed edge traverse. Waited less than 10 min, soon at summit. View decent despite clouds, alone at top, descent met two more couples and overtook those youths on little ridge below, down to Scodavacca pass, snack lower in greenery. Loads of time so slow descent to Padova hut where we hadn't been. Lounged till evening at hut with friendly keepers and good night in half-empty hut.

After two years back on Cridola. Originally planned Železna gora above Sappada, but ended up in Forni di Sopra. These parts are very solitary at this time, which gives the majestic mountain extra charm. Giaf hut, Scodavacca saddle, Tacca del Cridola, summit. Views magnificent, as only from Cridola. Surely not the last ascent on this mountain.
Wonderful towers - Monfalconi on the left, opposite Cridola.1

there are not many Slovenes logged in, I almost know most of those logged in recent years10

Cima Urtisiel est, I went over the notch below it a few years ago12
the descent took place more in the shade13
