I've been itching for a while to check out this range above Krapina. I didn't dive in blind, because I found a really nice mountain, well marked and with maintained paths. I went for a ridge traverse from west to east, where you hit four peaks of this range. It was great, so I'll be back to Strahinjščica. Greetings!

Excellently done tour and congratulations. The naming of the range in accessible literature is also interesting - some with š, some without...Strahinj(Š)čica. I don't know mežikanje

if it depends on Kajkavian or Ijekavian!?.

Thanks for good thoughts and encouragement. As for the mountain name, I always write it as locals around there call it.
The main thing is to hike and that every day, because late professor Drago Ulaga once said that walking is a prayer for life. Have a nice time! Lajči

Today from home to the top of Strahinjčica. Started early, but still the heat exhausted me towards the end. Well marked, only some path sections need new clearing. In the mountain hut friendly staff and you see they try. Greetings!

We started early, it's looooong, and there will be heat too

in Cvetlin I just looked towards Ravna gora, then on towards Trakošćan

marked excellently, only the path needs arranging

I'm on vacation and went alone in the morning to that nice hill which would somehow be the local hill of Krapina.
I took the path from Gornje Jesenje village. This path was in bad reputation for some time, but now it is nicely marked and the middle part that was always overgrown is now passable. Only the route is slightly changed, now we spend more time on the road that leads to the hut.
From the hut on the way to viewpoint Dedek a handrail is made.

On Strahinjščica, besides Jesenska, there are some more paths. Podgorje via Jelenska pečina, Podgorje via Slon (see Lajči's first description), Path seven turns (Put sedam zavoja) (classic path starting in Krapina), and two paths from Radoboj village. All these paths go to the mountain hut and then to the top, except one from Radoboj that goes to the top via eastern gully.

No views from the top, along the path in some places views open to the north, from Dedek exceptional view to west and south. Stamp on top, no logbook.

Quick ascent to Strahinjščica. Up from Gornje Jesenje village, then to hut (closed) and only to Dedek rock where there is a viewpoint. Unpleasant fog accompanied me the whole time, only some miracle gave view from Dedek to south and west. Down the same path...

What I saw near the hut, another ascent variant is made there. And it starts in Radobojsko Strahinje village. Next time I'll try it, if I find the starting point.
(Maybe this variant exists for some time but I didn't know about it until now...)

From Dedek despite the fog there was a nice view of Medvednica. Ski slopes visible under the tower at the top.

View to southwest. In distance Oštrc and Japetić in Samoborsko gorovje

From the very edge of Dedek rock a view to north opens. Boč and Donačka gora like two islands in mighty cloud ocean

We drive to Krapina, because it was still more cloudy in the morning, we first decide to visit the museum. Later it cleared up nicely nasmeh

and we head to Strahinjščica, ascent from the hut to the top. Then drive, with a stop at the shopping center jezik

, to Klanjec village, where there is a nicely marked circular eco path to Japica, the highest peak of Cesargradska gora.

Today on Strahinjščica... Ascent from Galovići village (part of larger Gornje Jesenje) through forest, meadows, overgrown forest, service road and finally to the old man's rock (viewpoint) along the ridge to Sušec peak...
From the top straight down via "my" variant through the "gully" that leads me back to the service road just a bit higher than the meadows...

3.12.24 Strahinjščica
From 1.12. to 4.12.24 I spent nice hiking hours with buddies from NE Slovenia in this part of Croatia. We stayed in a buddy's holiday cottage in the hamlet Jamno below Sv. Avguštin.
After breakfast we drive towards Krapina. We park in the place near Krapina - Podgora Krapinjska.
For the ascent we find the path via Jelenova pečina. The path is not demanding and well executed. Soon we are at the Mountaineering hut - Strahinjščica. A bit surprised that Sušec peak is still quite a way along the ridge. Higher up it's foggy and the fog creates a magical autumn idyll. For the return we choose the path along the ridge past the Slon viewpoint. After 12.5km back at the start. On the way we stop at a nice pub, where the decision falls to extend for another day.
