Sella Nevea - Foronon del Buinz / Špik nad Nosom (via Forcella Lavinal dell Orso)

Access to the starting point:
From Kranjska Gora, drive through the Rateče border crossing to Trbiz/Tarvisio. In Trbiz, turn left towards Bovec and follow the road to the crossroads near Lake Rabeljsko. Here, turn right in the direction of the Nevea Pass/Sella Nevea. Follow this road, which is mostly ascending, until you reach the saddle, where you will see a small ski slope on the right-hand side of the road. Park in the gravel parking area below the ski slope.

From Bovec, drive to the Predel border crossing, from which you descend to the Italian side. Just after Lake Rabelj, you will reach a crossroads where you turn left towards Neveje Pass/Sella Nevea. Continue as described above.

Path description:
From the parking lot, continue along the asphalted road (on the left side of the ski slope - the ski slope on the north side of the main road), which branches off the main road at the saddle. On the side of the road you will also see a signpost indicating route 625 towards the Corsi hut and a detailed map. Leave the road at the left-hand bend and turn right onto a less well-trodden track, which leads to a dirt road climbing up the right-hand side of the ski slope. We then climb along the road for a while, and then signs direct us left into the forest. After a short climb, you reach a crossroads where you continue to the right along route 625, and a path branches off to the left towards mountain pasture Pecol and the Brazza hut. The trail then continues to climb through the forest and crosses the mountain road several times, leading to a crossroads where another trail branches off to the left, leading to the Brazza hut. The path then turns to the right and begins to cross the slopes to the east. Soon we also come out of the forest onto grassy slopes and then climb up to the saddle Passo degli Scalini (2022m), where there are usually many ibex. There is a short descent from the saddle, which brings us back to the crossroads. Here you leave the path leading to the Corsi hut and head left towards Škrbina prednje Špranje on route 626. The path climbs up a grassy slope for a while before entering a valley below the steep slopes of Punta Plagnis on the left and Koštrunove špice on the right. At the beginning of the valley the path becomes a little steeper and then there is a climb up to Škrbina prednje Špranje, which can be seen ahead of you as you walk along the valley.

At the notch where the trail junction is, continue left along the Ceria Merlone trail.

Here the trail turns left to the south-west and begins to climb the steep western slopes. Climb steeply a few times and then cross the exposed slopes to the south. A 10 metre high ladder climb follows, and the path soon leads to a crossroads. Down to the left the path leads to mountain pasture Krni dol, and we continue to the right, passing the summit of Spit of Planja / Punta Plagnis 2411m on an exposed ledge. The trail then mostly crosses the steep southern slopes, but occasionally climbs a bit steeper along the cable car. There is a slight descent to the Forca de la Val notch (2352m).

From the notch, continue left and descend gently at first, then start climbing very steeply up along the steel cable. The steep climb along the steel cable then leads us to some rough terrain, which we climb for a short time. The path then turns to the left and for a long time crosses the slopes on ledges below the Spike above Spranjo / Modeon del Buinz (2554m). This path leads to a slightly flatter ridge on the west side of the Spike above Spranjo. The path then retreats again to the ridge on the south side and there is a short climb to the summit of the Spit above Nos.

You can descend along the ascent route, or continue along the Ceria Merlone route towards Cima di Terrarossa and then descend past the Brazza hut.
