Gornja Bistra - Sljeme (over Bistransko sedlo - pot 46)

Access to the starting point:
Leave the Macelj - Krapina - Zagreb motorway at the Zaprešić exit. From here we go in the direction of Donja Bistra. We will pass through Ivanec, Jablanovec and Novake, where we will turn right and arrive in the village of Poljanica. Gornja Bistra is the next village. In the village, look for the Sljeme road and park in the large parking lot in front of the Hospital for Chronic Diseases in Children.
Getting to Gornja Bistra is quite difficult in terms of orientation. You can ask the locals for the hospital, as almost everyone knows where it is.

Path description:
From the parking lot, continue south. Orientation is easy because the TV tower on Sljeme is right in front of us. At house number 60, the path number 46 branches off from our route (poorly marked), we go ahead and reach the quarry (parking is also possible here). We continue on the now narrower transport and service asphalt road that goes to the ski slopes at the top. We will be on the asphalt for about 20 minutes and then take a sharp left turn into the forest.
In the forest we will go up a wider forest road. The forks along the way are well marked with wooden arrows. At one bend, leave the road and climb quickly and quite steeply through the lane of the low pine forest. Then you come back to cart track, which will be narrower for a while.
Continue north-east along cart track. Cart track climbs steadily. When the bend brings you back south, split off again from cart track and steeply through the forest to a cross and a resting place with benches (we are about halfway here).
At the resting place the path flattens out and then occasionally descends slightly. Along the way you will see some information boards, the forest will thin out and you will have an exceptional view of the Samoborsko gorje and Bohor. After a longer walk along the cart track, we reach a crossroads where we go left (not well marked, but even if we go right we will somehow get back on the trail). Further on, the trail leads us past two more well-marked crossroads, where we go straight ahead. The path then climbs steeply and we will arrive at Bistransko sedlo and then in front of the Grafičar mountain lodge, where we can have a snack. Route 42 ends at Grafičar.
From Grafičar, continue along the ridge of Medvednica, on route number 26. This climbs steeply at first, then lays down and leads through the forest to the asphalt road that goes from Sljemena to Medvedgrad. Here we get a great view of the south and Zagreb below.
Cross the asphalt road and follow the northern slope. The path then leads to Supek's livade with children's playgrounds and then to the Hotel Tomislavov dom. From the hotel parking lot, we will climb quickly and steeply along route 1. Follow the stone stairs to the Zlatni Medvjed guesthouse, just below the top. From here it is only a minute to the TV tower.
