Hudi prask in Mrzla gora

@cofee thanks a lot!

We are not going to use bivak unless in bug trouble (which they have been made for I beleive).

We would go further in first day, but we were not able to secure reservation further on the road and we do not want to "risk" staying outside.

Thanks for the weather link, we have very good weather forecast in Czechia so I do not want to rely on the "global" forceast, but Norway model tends to be very good for Europe, at least for Czechia.

No problem.

About weather report, you can also you this link from Slovenian weather agency. http://vreme.arso.gov.si/napoved/Logarska%20dolina/graf
Unfortunately, you can't search for mountain summits, but you can guess what the weather will be based on places/valleys below mountains.

Other than that I would actually recommend that you sleep outside if you can because you can make your whole route in two even parts (and it's totally legal to do so on Kamnik-Savinja Alps). Also, keep in mind that there won't be any water sources once you get to a certain height. On your whole route it'll only be at and above Rinka waterfall and probably near Češka koča. Otherwise you'll have to buy it at huts.

@cofee

That is a great idea, but we consider to go without tent and sleaping bags for emergency cases only. We do not know the place so well to set up tent just anywhere, but if you say it is allowed, than we might think about it. However it still means to take tent = more weight.

However the pont with water is very well, we are certainly taking lot of water with us to be sure and/or just buy it in kučas, money is not real problem here.

@garmont, sorry if it is not interesting for you if there were better place to ask, I would certainly move there.

Also if we see that it is too far we can decide to go through Turski žleb for the second day.

Turski žleb is a via ferrata graded as "very difficult". So it's up to you. velik nasmeh

Aha, I must look at path grades more closely, it is not contained in map I have as far as I know. Are there any good online trail maps? We do plan to get the paper one thought ...

(We are fit for a ferrata and we do climb on sandrock for example, but we will be tired at that point so I think we rather avoid it, especially if it is "very difficult" grade)

Looking at your planned route, you will have to ascend/descend by "very difficult" via ferrata one way or another. On your digital map dotted trail means very difficult, a trail with dashes mean difficult, and full trail means normal. Although some trails aren't marked correctly and/or are missing. In general, the part from Češka koča to Grintavec is undergraded and from Grintavec to Kokrsko sedlo is overgraded.

...and good views on Mrzla gora and Hudi prask are also included. nasmeh

Guys tranks very much for your advice, it makes me really look forward to next week, for ferratas we are bringing "montainers seets" and express carabines (sorry do not know right name in English).

@cofee - on the map I use there are two very difficult parts betwean Kranj Lodge and Cescka koca, after that they are marked difficult and normal. So you are saying, that that verydifficul are also above Czeska kocha direction Kokorsko sedlo.

BTW one of the things I want to do on our road is correctly mark the difficulty of paths in OpenstreetMaps.

If we were able to secure accomodation in Dom planincov or even Frischauf Lodge I think that during first day we might be able to end up there.

If we take a tent like @cofee suggests, than we might try to risk it and come without reservation and in worst case we end up in a tent.

Frischauf hut has burnt down. If the weather will be fine, you won't need a tent. ^^

@cofee If I take Tatra mountains (comparable mountins in Slovaki> even if the forecast is fine it may change during one day. How stable it is in your Alps? Currently the link you snet me says for 5-6. July (dates of our hike) minimal temperature in night around 3 degrees which should be fine for me, but not for my gilfriend - she is a mountaineer but hates cold nights nasmeh

On a normal summer day you should be prepared for afternoon/evening storms in alpine region even if forecast is good.

I think 3° is for summits around 2500m, in alpine valleys it should be around 10°.

@cofee I won't translate this to my gilfriend. She is fine with any kind of rain, but onece there is a lightning she stops speaking nasmeh on the other hand she is much better snadrock climber than me ...

That sounds like a prette comparable to Tatras, usually we would take only raincoats and if we see a storm, than we know where to hide ...

@cofee on closer look at the map https://en.mapy.cz/s/mujafutafa there are parts which are T4 difficulty (red dots), but there are no marks for ferratas. This might be the reason why you say that reality is defferent.
