St. John the Baptist on Ojstrica - Huhnerkogel/Košenjak (via Sveti Urban)

Access to the starting point:
Drive to the centre of Dravograd (to get here from Maribor via the Drava Valley or from Velenje via Slovenj Gradec), where the signs for Ojstrica direct us to the road which, after 6. 5 km, leads us to the Church of St John the Baptist on Ojstrica, near which we park in the parking lot.

Path description:
From the church parking lot, continue along the asphalt road, which quickly leads to a marked crossroads with a number of direction signs.
Continue right (straight on the usual route to Huhnerkogel) in the direction of the Church of St. Urban. The way ahead leads along a fairly scenic road, which you follow at the crossroads in the direction of St Urban. After the Lonhtar farm, the path to Huhnerkogel branches off to the left (past the hunting lodge Bivak Piramida), and a little further on, cross the Potoški graben stream. After the brook, at a marked crossroads, continue slightly left in the direction of St. Urban and Bogatec Farm (slightly right, marked path to Pernice). Follow the signs towards the already known direction, but the higher path leads you past a green barrier which prevents any further traffic. A little further on, at an unmarked crossroads, continue right, then climb gently for a while to the right. When the longer crossing is over, the road turns sharp left and leads to a meadow, in the middle of which stands the Church of St Urban.
From the church, continue westwards, where you will see markings by the cross. The path, which continues to climb gently along the border line between Slovenia and Austria, quickly leads to a 1367 m high peak, which is not named on the maps. The trail descends a slightly rocky slope from the top and then leads to a small wooden bivouac on the Austrian side of the trail (the bivouac is usually locked). The trail, which still follows the border line, climbs gently up a more or less vegetated slope. Only rarely do we get some views of the Austrian side, where we occasionally see the Golice mountains. The lonely forest path is joined after a while by the path from the Lonhtar farm, or from Pernice. A little further on, we come to a crossroads, where the usual path to Huhnerkogel joins from the left. Continue straight on here (right Golica / Koralpe) and follow the path to the top, which is reached in a few dozen steps of further walking.
