Access to the starting point:
Take the Vrhnika (to get here from Ljubljana or Logatec) and turn left at the petrol station towards Stara Vrhnika (from Ljubljana direction right and from Logatec direction left). Continue along the road past Stara Vrhnika and shortly afterwards you will see the Zaplana signs on the left. Take this road, which starts to climb and takes you a little higher to a small hamlet near the church. Park in the parking lot on the right-hand side of the road by the Kuren signs.
Path description:
At the end of the parking lot, on the left side of the road (in the route of ascent), you will see a wide path that crosses a meadow in a gentle downhill. After a few minutes' walk, join the path from the lower starting point. Continue to the right on cart track, which climbs gently past the pasture you see on your left. The path then starts to climb a little more and after a while the path gets quite close to the forest road. Here leave the marked path heading towards the shelter at Mountain pasture and bear right to the road. When you reach the road, continue left along the road slightly uphill. After a few minutes, the road will lead you to a crossroads where the road to the Shelter at Mountain pasture branches off to the left. Continue straight on the road heading towards Zaplana. Follow this road only a few metres to where a marked path branches off to the right uphill, which after 15 minutes of moderate ascent through the forest leads to the cable cars at the top of Ulovka.
