Access to the starting point:
a) From the Ljubljana - Celje motorway, take the Šentjakob exit and follow the road towards Litija. Turn left at the Mercator store in Dolsko and follow the slightly narrower road to the parking lot of the parish church of St. Helena.
b) First, take the Litija, then continue driving towards Ljubljana. Turn right at the Mercator store in Dolsko and follow a slightly narrower road to the parking lot of the parish church of St. Helena.
Path description:
From the starting point, we start climbing and after a few 10 steps we join a much wider road, which we follow to the right. Continue climbing on the asphalt road, which has some marked shortcuts higher up, and when the serpentines end, continue climbing on the road. Higher up, the road leads us past a few hamlets and two trail branches to the left towards Murovica, but we continue straight on the asphalt road the whole time. After the two forks, we reach the centre of Zagorica pri Dolskem, where the path leads us past the birthplace of Baron George Vega, who was born in 1754.
When Zagorica ends, we quickly reach the church in Križevska vas, which we pass on the right (Buven farm on the left, Cicelj on the left). There is a descent, and then the path leads us past a few more houses. There is a longer crossing of the southern slopes of Ciclja, and the path leads past the NOB memorial and past the branch of the hunting trail at Cicelj, all the way to Velika vas. Through the village, follow the markings for St Nicholas, and the path from Senožeti joins us.
At the crossroads where you join the path from Senožeti, continue left on cart track, which turns into a forest. Cart track quickly turns into a mountain trail, which continues to climb crosswise to the right. At the part where the slope flattens out, the marked path to Cicelj branches off to the left, and we continue straight on towards St Nicholas. Just a little further on, the path leads us out of the woods and onto a large meadow, where the path turns slightly left towards the last house in the village, where we see a registration box.
From the last house, continue up the cart track, which climbs across the meadow and after a few minutes leads to the Church of St Nicholas, which is situated on a prominent peak.
