Access to the starting point:
Celje, Slovenia's third-largest city, is practically reachable from several sides. Park somewhere between the railway station and the bridge over the Savinja in the direction of Laško. The problem could be that the car parks are mostly pay-per-use. . . when you arrive by train, of course, these problems disappear.
Path description:
The route starts at the bridge over the Savinja River at a sign with a panoramic view of the Celje Hills. The trail in the part up to the turn-off to Srebotnik is an introductory part of the CPP - Celjska planinske trail. In the first part you walk along the path between the Savinja and the railway line to the confluence of the Voglajna and the Savinja. Continue over the bridge and under the railway line to the right and continue along the Pelikan Trail to the Old Castle.
From the castle, continue left steeply uphill past the inn and follow the well-trodden path through the village of Osenca. The path from Teharje joins from the left. Continue on the asphalt road through Pečovje and follow the forks, mainly to the right, which are well marked.
In the forest part, the mountain path from Štori called "past Marija" joins from the left. Continue along the forest road by two or three houses/weekends and then again to the left along a slightly narrower forest path and, higher up, partly also logging trail. The path climbs again a little steeper and there are also a few railings on the left, more as a fence than as a handrail.
Soon we reach a crossroads, straight ahead and higher for Srebotnik, while we continue left and after a good hundred metres down reach the Chapel of Our Lady carved into the rock face of Srebotnik. Here there is a bench, table and a registration box, and after a short rest we continue from the chapel up the forest path/train and follow the signs and direction boards for Svetina or the Barbara's Way signs. There is a fork in the larger grassy clearing, where we continue left to Alma's home, and right is the path to Tolsti vrh. . .
Follow the forest path to a crossroads where the path continues up to Alma's home, while we descend right down to the village of Svetina. After a short visit to the settlement, we continue along the XIV. divizije path by the cemetery (the grave of the great traveller Alma Karlin, immediately to the left at the entrance), following the road higher up towards Kanjuce. At the larger homestead on the right, also by the horse paddock, go up the pass to the wooden cross on the right by the road and turn sharp right up the asphalt towards the only homestead, which you pass on the right and then straight ahead along the forest path - a good hundred metres to the top. The summit is the highest point, marked by a boundary stone - a surveyor's stone. There are also four large, distinctive beech trees at the top. From the wooden cross past the homestead to the top there are no markings but the traceability of the path is somewhere logical. The summit is not visible.

Discussion about the trail Celje - Veliki vrh above Svetina
bruny30. 04. 2016
V nasprotni smeri opisa seveda, sestop iz Celjskega hribovja v Celje.
