Vače - Planinski dom na Zasavski Sveti gori (on a slope)

Access to the starting point:
a) From the road Moravče - Zagorje ob Savi, in the settlement Kandrše turn right (left from the route of Zagorje) in the direction of Vač and GEOSS. There is a climb of a few kilometres, and at the small pass where the road to GEOSS branches off to the right, continue straight ahead and descend to the settlement Vače, where you park next to the cemetery or the parish church of St Andrew.

b) From the road Ljubljana - Litija, at Spodnji Hotič, take the road towards Vače. Follow the signs for Vače for a few kilometres, and when you arrive in the town, park at the parish church or a little further on in the larger parking lot next to the cemetery.

Path description:
From the parish church in Vače, follow the main road first westwards, and after a few 10 steps you will reach a crossroads, where you will turn left towards Klenik. The gentle descent ends a little further on, and the road leads along the edge of a meadow, overlooking the Slemik hill, where you pass several sculptures. At the signpost for the beginning or end of Klenik, a signpost directs us left up a path which ascends to a nearby house, which we pass on the left.

Above the house, you will come to cart track, which you follow slightly to the left, and from it you will soon turn right onto a marked footpath. After a few minutes, the path crosses cart track and we continue on the waymarked path, which continues to climb through the forest. There is a slightly steeper climb and within a few minutes of further walking we reach the Church of the Holy Cross at Slemik.

From the top, follow the signs for Sveta Gora (Holy Mountain) and start descending on the cart track, where the path leads past a large chapel. There is some more downhill, where you follow the markings, and along the way you will see some information boards for the Vače archaeological trail. Crossing the meadow, we then descend through the woods on the marked path to the macadam road. Follow the road eastwards, climbing mostly gently to moderately. During the ascent, you pass a quarry, and a few minutes further on the road lays down and leads to the settlement Vovše, where you pass a few houses, and gradually start descending behind the houses. When we start climbing again, we pass two older houses, followed by a steeper climb through the forest. When the forest ends, we reach the Vovše organic farm and cheese cottage.

At the farm, go slightly left on the marked footpath in the direction of Zasavska Svete gora. There is a short cross-country climb and you arrive at a marked crossroads where the trail splits.

Continue on the lower path (along the slope), which is slightly shorter (slightly left along the ridge), which lies down and crosses the slopes of Zasavska Gora. The slope we are walking on soon becomes steeper and rockier, and the path is full of rubble and quite scenic. In the last part of the crossing, we are helped by a small rope (not difficult on land), and then we reach a small pass, where we join the ridge path and the unmarked path cart track, which starts from the village of Kostrevnica.

The path continues up cart track, and from it take a right turn onto the waymarked path, which soon returns to cart track. Walk briefly along cart track, and when it starts to descend, continue slightly right on the marked path, which splits a few steps further on.

Continue left in the direction of the Hut on Zasavska Sveta gora (to the right the church on Zasavska Sveta gora) and after a short crossing of a steep slope you will reach an asphalt road which you follow to the left. After another minute of easy and scenic walking, you will reach the mountain hut.
