Access to the starting point:
From the Ljubljana - Jesenice motorway, take the Lesce exit and follow the road towards Bled and on to Bohinjska Bistrica. Continue driving towards Bohinjsko jezero (Ribčev laz), at which you will come to a crossroads, where you will continue straight along the left (south) side of the lake in the direction of Ukanec and the Savica waterfall. Follow this road to the bottom station of the pendulum at Vogel, then buy a ticket and take the cable car to the top station, which is the starting point for our tour.
Path description:
From the top station of the pendulum at Vogel, continue right along the road, passing the Merjasec mountain hut on the west side. The path continues in a slight downhill in the direction of Komna and Vogel, and a wide macadam road leads to a marked crossroads. Here continue left in the direction of the four-seater Orlove glave (right down Komna, Vogel, Žagarjev graben and Ukanc), which the road passes on the right. From the bottom station of the four-seater, the road continues along the transport and rescue road, which in turn follows the Vogel ski slope, and begins to climb steeply. Follow the road, along which you can also see a few rare markings, to the upper station of the aforementioned four-seater, with increasingly beautiful views of Julian Alps. Here the path bends and leads us to a point where a path branches off to the right to the summit of Orlove glave (the summit with the cross), and we continue straight on along the transport-rescue road, which bypasses the main summit of the Eagle's Heads on the left-hand side.
The road then descends slightly and leads to a less well-marked crossroads, where we continue along the right-hand road in the direction of Šija and Rodica. The road continues to climb for a short time, then ends and leads to a marked mountain trail, along which we continue our ascent. After a moderate climb of a few minutes, we arrive at a marked crossroads, where the path to Komna branches off to the right, and we continue slightly to the left, along a path that gradually transitions to a ski slope. Here the path starts to climb steeply and, with increasingly beautiful views, quickly leads us to the top station of the Šija single-seater railway.
From the top station, continue slightly to the right and in a few steps climb to the unmarked top of the High Eagle's Edge.
From here the trail descends slightly, then begins a moderate climb and within a few minutes leads to a marked crossroads. From the crossroads, continue right towards Vogel (left Rodica, straight Šija) and cross the slopes of Šija and Vrh Dlani to the right. After crossing these slopes for a few minutes, the trail crosses to the western slopes of Vrh Dlani, where it turns slightly to the left and begins to descend crosswise over steeper slopes. After a short crossing, we reach a ridge with a beautiful view of the coastal side, and we descend to Vratce (1725 m). Here a marked trail branches off to the right down towards mountain pasture Last Vogel, and we continue straight ahead, crossing the steeper slopes of an unnamed peak on the maps. There is a short steeper descent and the path leads to the next saddle (1668 m).
Here another path joins from the right with mountain pasture Last Vogel, and we continue slightly left along the marked footpath towards Vogel. The path continues along the ridge for a short distance, then turns slightly to the right, where it becomes lane of dwarf pines. Dwarf pines ends quickly, and a moderately steep path leads over some slopes before returning to the ridge, where it climbs steeply for a short time. There is a short, slightly exposed passage, and then the route moves on to the northern slopes of the Vogel, where snowfields can be encountered in early summer. After crossing the slopes below Vogel, the path climbs slightly steeper and leads to a marked crossroads where you continue sharp left in the direction of Vogel (straight Globoko and Komna). The ascent then leads to a saddle between Vogel and Vrh Krnic, from which we have a beautiful view of the coastal side of the Baltic Sea. Here, continue left along the lookout ridge, which will take you to the top of the 1922 m high Vogel in a few minutes.

Discussion about the trail Ski hotel Vogel - Vogel (via saddle Šija)

Pred dvemi leti so pot, ki se s Šije pod Vrhom Dlani strmo spušča do Vratc dobro utrdili. Pred tem pa je bil spust precej adrenalinski. Odlično je tudi zavarovan najbolj izpostavljen del poti čez greben in poličko, ki je pred tem marsikaterega pohodnika odvrnil od nadaljevanja poti. Dopolnitev: strm in na novo utrjen del poti se prične nekoliko pod Vratci, ko se pot spušča proti naslednjemu sedlu in se malo pod sedlom priključi na pot s pl. Zadnji Vogel in z zgornje postaje sedežnice Orlove glave.
