Description of peak:
Hoher Sonnblick aka Rauriser Sonnblick is a 3106 metre high mountain in the Goldberg mountain group. The Zittelhaus hut and the highest meteorological station in Austria are also located on the mountain. From the top, you have a very nice view of the nearby glaciers and most of the Goldberg mountain group. The mountain is also interesting from a historical point of view, as there are several gold mines on the slopes of the mountain. The Goldberg group is named after them. The Zittelhaus hut, located on the top of the mountain, was built in 1886. The hut is open from the beginning of March until the end of October. When the hut is closed, there is a winter rom with 10 beds.
