At the cabin we turn towards the marked mountain road next to the Valentinalm in Wolayer See. The road is quite level and is closed to public vehicles. Se soon leave the road and turn right to a path, which occasionally crosses the road, and after about an hour reaches the Obere Valentinalm from which there is a marvelous view of the northern cliff face, the Rauchkofel (2460m) and the Kellerspitzen (2769m). From the cabin we continue down the well marked path past the hill on which cattle grazes in the summer. On the end of the hill, the path veers slightly to the left and begins to climb up the magnificent cogliansa slopes. The path in the valley, which sometimes runs across grassy fields riddled with rocks and boulders, takes us in about an hour to the fork on the Valentin Torl (2239m) saddle. The right road leads to the Rauchkofel, the left one is a very difficult climbing route to the Monte Coglians. The middle one, the one we’re taking, slopes downwards and in about a half hour brings us to the Wolayer See, from which there is a view of the Monte Coglians and Monte Capolago. Next to the lake there is also a cabin, called the Wolayerseehutte. |
