Srednji Dolič (gostišče Repolusk) - Source of river Paka (Themed trail from Huda luknja to source of river Paka)

Access to the starting point:
a) From the route Arja Vas - Velenje: From the road Velenje - Slovenj Gradec, in Gornji Dolič turn right (left if coming from Slovenj Gradec) towards Vitanje. After 2 km you arrive in Srednji Dolič, on the right is the Repolusk guesthouse. Leave your vehicle in the parking space at the guest house. There is a sign with a map of the route and a description of the sights along the way.
b) From Slovenske Konjice - Vitanje: From Slovenske Konjice, drive in the direction of Celje and in Stranice, at the roundabout, turn right towards Vitanje. Follow the road to Vitanje and in the centre of the town turn right towards Dolič. After 10 km, you will arrive at Srednji Dolič and the above-mentioned guest house, where you will leave your vehicle.

Path description:
The signpost on the signpost board directs you to cross the main road and follow the village asphalt road to the end of the settlement. There, signs direct you to a path along the forest, which leads to the Češovnik farm. Passing the farm buildings, you will find the macadam road, which climbs gently and leads past the Hunting Lodge and two farmhouses. At the second farm, signs direct us straight on cart track through the forest to the meadow below the Krpač farm. Follow the path along the edge of the forest to a small saddle, from where you can see the first Pohorje farms of the sprawling settlement of Paka. Cross the stream, take the right path across the meadow and after a few minutes' walk you will reach the restored, more than 300-year-old Pohorje house at Trmod. From here, follow the road past two chapels to the asphalt road and the farm at Ošlak. We are at an altitude of 940 m. Behind us, there is a beautiful view of the mountains from Boč in the south-east and Uršlje Gora in the west, with the Kamink Savinja Alps rising in the background. It took us an hour to get here. Continue along the road and after a few minutes' walk you reach a fork to the left to the last farm, Zlodej, which you go around on the right and follow cart track into the woods to a stream (later the Paka River). Continue along the water following forest trains and paths until the source. The path is undulating, now steep, in places sloping. The flow of the water is the same. On the steep parts it is lively, jumping over rock blocks and settling in the pools below. At the stream crossings, the variety of Pohorje rocks (gneiss, tonalite, gneiss) can be seen. The wolf is a characteristic grass in the forest clearings, formerly pastures. In the meadows, there are orchids, cuckoo orchids, and other protected plants - arnica, Pannonian sage, valerian. Climb into the heart of the Pohorje forests, where you may encounter a deer or a chamois, or even a wild rooster or a grouse in the morning silence. After a good hour's walk, you reach a forest road, cross it and follow the signs to a path that climbs uphill in meanders along a marshy area covered with various grasses. The steepness of the slope continues until you reach the spring at 1422 m. It takes two and a half hours to reach the spring on land, a little longer in winter, depending on the amount of snow. A visit in winter is a special experience. We can return the same way or take an easier route. From the spring, follow cart track westwards to the forest road. On the other side of the road, find a track which descends through the woods to a large meadow, which is skirted along the top edge to cart track, which is followed down to a farm, past which you reach the tarmac road you were on earlier. Continue along the approach path until you reach the starting point.
Walking time: ascent 3 hours; descent 2 hours.
