From the parking lot on Pecol we turn down the narrow road which goes right towards the Rifugio di Brazza cottage. Soon thereafter markings point us left on a path through the meadows and after about 15 minutes we reach the cottage. On the intersection just above the cottage we turn left which goes towards the Forca dei Disteis (2201m) saddle. The right path leads to the Špik Hude police (2420m) peak. From the intersection we descend a few meters then ascend up a slight slope through fields below the Montaž, and if we’re especially lucky we might spot some mountain marmot which are quite common in this area. Soon a direct path from mount Pecol joins ours from the left, which is slightly quicker than our route. Here the path begins to climb more steeply and brings us onto the before mentioned saddle, which generaly teems with Capricorns. To get to the saddle from the starting point sould take about 2 hours. At the saddle the path turns right over some crees and takes us to another intersection. The left, more difficult, path leads towards the Suringar hut (2430m). We, however, turn right across more crees and takes us to some memorial plaques, where the path again becomes moderately difficult. Some climbing is required and there are some steel wires, though less than is expected from the Slovenian mountains. The path then turns left, passes some crees and ends just before the most difficult, albeit most secure, part of the ascent. The first 10 meters can be overcome with the help of steel wires up a vertical slope, then we climb the 60 meter near vertical raised ladder, after which only a few meters separate us from the crest. The path turns left over the crest and is quite manageable, but care should be taken when crossing, since the crest is very exposed, and we should also wary not to start any rock tumbling. The summit is a great viewpoint and quite wide. It also sports a cross and bell, which mountaineers usually ring for good fortune.
