Matke (Zahom) - Dragov dom na Homu

Access to the starting point:
Leave the Štajerska motorway at the Šempeter exit and follow the signs for Šempeter. In Šempeter, turn right in the direction of Šešče pri Preboldu and continue towards Matke. Shortly after the sign marking the end of the settlement of Matke (the village continues with individual houses), you will come to a crossroads, where you continue left in the direction of Homa, up over a bridge. After a short climb, the road leads to the next crossroads on the pass between Hom on the left and Kamnik on the right, where you continue left again in the direction of Hom and park in the roadside parking lot (the parking lot is just after the crossroads).

Path description:
From the parking lot, continue along the asphalt road towards Homa for a few 10 steps, then turn slightly right onto the forest footpath. Higher up, cross the tarmac road to the right, and quickly arrive at the edge of the forest, where you will have a beautiful view of the surrounding hills. A dirt track leads to a macadam road higher up, which you follow up to the left, and at a nearby water fountain you turn right onto a steep footpath that climbs through the forest. At a small crossroads, go straight ahead towards Hom, and when you reach an asphalt road, continue your ascent. The road soon becomes a dirt track, and then, crossing the eastern slopes of Homa past a house, you reach a marked crossroads where you join up with the other paths from Griž, Matki and Šešč pri Prebold.
Go left here, first past the house, and then along the steep road to reach the Church of St Mary Magdalene and the Drago Dom na Homo in a few minutes.
