Mali Lipovec - Japetić

Access to the starting point:
You arrive in Croatia via Border crossing Brežice / Bregana. Take the Bregana-Zagreb motorway to the Samobor exit. In the town, follow the signs for Rude and Jastrebarsko. When you see the Smerovišće exit on the right, leave the main road and drive on to the village of Mali Lipovec (15 minutes) and the Šoićeva hiža restaurant, where you can park (if the parking lot is occupied, park on the side of the road and otherwise it is advisable to park on the side of the road, as the parking lot is reserved for the restaurant's guests).

Path description:
From the Šoić's house restaurant go west, but only as far as the first crossroads in the village of Mali Lipovec, where you will take the asphalt road to the right (there is another cart track, which is an unofficial shortcut). The road climbs quickly and steeply through the village and leads you to the entrance to the forest. Here we take a sharp right at a bend to the west. Cart track will be steep at the beginning, but the steepness will gradually ease and the path will soon lay down. The lay-by leads to mountain pasture Velika livada.
Once a lively mountain pasture, today it is sadly abandoned and increasingly overgrown. There is also a crossroads here, where the path to the top of Lovnik and the Sveti Bernard mountain lodge branches off.
We go on and enter the forest. The path will gradually become steeper and steeper and in the second part also more and more slippery and rocky.
When the path is finally laid, it continues along the wider and often muddy forest cart track. The path alternates between strips of sparse woodland and strips of dense and dark pine woodland. After this, the cart track gradient climbs slightly and leads to an asphalt road. Here is another crossroads where we join the routes from the northern starting points as well as the route from Žumberk/Gorjancev.
Continue along the road to the left, but only for two minutes, as you then turn left into the forest. There is a short strip of compacted forest beyond which you come to a crossroads where the path from Ivančičev and a variant via Veliki vrata join. Here we go right and after a short steep climb we are at the top where there is a lookout tower (if we went left we would after ten minutes come to the mountain home Žitnica.
At the top there is a lookout tower, which offers an exceptional view on all sides except the east. In good conditions, you can also see the Kamnik and Savinja Alps and Snežnik.
