Access to the starting point:
We drive to Pontebba (Itali), e. g. from Kranjska Gora and Trbiz / Tarvisio.
In Pontebba, look for the turn-off for Lonice / Passo del Cason di Lanza. The turn-off or junction is just after the turn-off for Mokrine (Nassfeld or Passo Pramolo), which you pass in a westerly direction (if you are coming from Slovenia).
The road is 16 km long, asphalted, narrow and sometimes very steep. The drive to your destination on this road takes about 25 minutes.
Path description:
From the parking lot, walk a few dozen metres along a dirt road towards a yellow building, past which you turn left into the forest (past a large iron cross, and nearby there is a very difficult path to Zermulo 2143 m). Through a sparse forest of mostly larch trees, you will reach the turnoff for the direct path to Zuc della Guardia, which crosses a spring. The steep path ascends to the saddle between the Zuc della Guardia and Monte Pizzul. This trail leads directly to the protected climbing section of the trail, below which a WWI military bunker has been dug into the mountain. The climbing route starts with a ladder, and is then aided exclusively by ropes. The climbing part to the top is relatively short, about 100 m in height, but it is very steep. The route runs slightly to the left at first and then slightly to the right in the second part. The summit is not vast, but there is a cross on the top.
