Access to the starting point:
First we drive to Kobarid, then we continue our drive to Bovec. Just over a kilometre further on from Kobarid, you will see an old military bunker on the right side of the road, steep steps on the left, and a small parking lot on the right a few metres further on.
The starting point can also be reached from the route of Bovec.
Path description:
From the parking lot, continue along the main road towards Kobarid for some 10 steps, then carefully cross the main road, and from there continue up the stairs to which you are directed by the signs for Tonovcov Castle. The path continues on steep stairs, in the middle of which, at the steepest part, we are also helped by a steel cableway. After 5 minutes, the stairs end and the path takes you into the forest, through which you climb moderately. The path continues to lay down a little, but then turns into steep slopes. As the path is quite wide and guarded by a fence in exposed places, it does not cause us any problems. Higher up, the slope is laid and the path leads us just a little further to the restored ruins of the former Tonovec castle, from which we have a beautiful view.
