Globoka dolina - Veliko Kladivo

Access to the starting point:
From the motorway Ljubljana - Jesenice take the exit Tržič (Ljubelj) and then continue on the expressway towards Tržič. Here, just before the petrol station, turn right and descend into the centre of Tržič. Continue along a slightly narrower road through Dolžanovo gorge to the village of Dolina and a little higher to Jelendol. Here, turn left (straight on the lower road Medvodje) and continue along the initially still asphalted road towards the mountains of Kofce, Šija and Pungrat. The road then soon becomes macadam and starts to climb steeply on a sometimes quite rutted road. Higher up, the road gives way to the bed of the Dolžanka stream and gradually leads into a slightly less dense forest. Here, about 50 m before a small wooden hut, which can be seen on the left, we will see the start of a mountain path leading towards Kofce. Park in one of several suitable parking spaces along the road.

Path description:
At the starting point, notice the red mountain direction sign with the inscription "Kofce čez Dovžanko", which directs us to the left on the marked footpath, which climbs through the lane of the compacted forest. After a short climb, you will reach cart track, which you will follow further through the forest to the left. Cart track soon lays down completely and then crosses several successive springs. There is a short descent, then cross the Dolžanka stream via a small wooden bridge, after which you reach the eponymous mountain pasture.
Immediately after the little bridge, turn right in the direction of Kofc and continue along the slightly steeper cart track, which you follow for about 5 minutes, and then the markings direct you slightly to the right onto a footpath which continues to climb parallel to the above-mentioned track. The path turns slightly to the right at a higher level and gradually starts to climb steeper and steeper. Cross the lane of the young forest higher up, then return to the dense forest, where the path climbs very steeply for a few minutes. After a steep climb of a few minutes, we come out on a road, and we follow it to the right, walking along it for only about 20 m, and then the signs for Kofce direct us to the left onto the ascending path. Some 10 m higher, the path from the higher starting point joins us from the right, and we continue slightly left and after a few minutes of further walking we reach the chapel at the foot of mountain pasture Kofce.
The marked path bypasses the chapel on the right, and a little higher up it leads to a wide track, along which we walk to the pasture fence. After crossing the grazing fence, we also leave the forest, and we continue along a slightly less visible path, which leads us to the mountain home at Kofce in less than 10 minutes' further walking.
From the mountain lodge, we continue in the direction of Veliki vrh and Kladiva along the initially slightly less visible path, which begins to climb over a meadow. After a 15-minute walk from the Kofcah home, you reach a beautiful viewpoint at the cross.
The path then descends gently and in a few minutes leads to the steeper slopes of Košuta. The path then climbs over lane of dwarf pines, where it leads to a crossroads. Continue to the right (straight on the big peak) along the path which after a few metres is joined by the unmarked but marked mountain pasture Šija path. Continue left up the path, which climbs steeply and quickly leads to an exposed passage. Without fixed safety gear, cross a short, but crumbly and slightly exposed ledge after which enter lane of dwarf pines. The way ahead climbs over a short lane of dwarf pines and then continues along the side ridge of Košuta. The increasingly scenic and rather steep path joins the ridge path higher up. Continue right towards the Hammer (left Veliki vrh, straight up Kofce gora 10 paces) along the path which begins to descend gently along the edge of the ridge. The very scenic ridge trail, which runs along and along the main ridge, is slightly exposed in places, but in dry conditions the passages do not cause any problems. A little further on, the path approaches an undistinguished peak (Malo Kladivo) which leads to a short steep climb.
From Malo Kladivo the path starts to descend and quickly leads to a small saddle between the two hammers. Here, an easy unmarked trail with mountain pasture Šija (possibility of return) joins us from the right, and we continue straight on the trail, which starts to climb steeply up the top slope of the Kladivo. After 10 minutes of steep and dangerous walking, the trail leads us to a scenic peak.
