Cason di Lanza - Creta di Aip / Trogkofel (ferrata Crete Rose)

Access to the starting point:
From Ljubljana, take the Gorenjska motorway, exit Hrušica, continue via the Rateče border crossing to Trbiz. Continue along the local road to Pontebba, where a small orientation lop awaits. Before the village, take the second underpass and immediately after it turn sharp left. Follow this road to the junction for Studena Bassa. If you have taken the first underpass by mistake, continue through the village to the junction with the signpost for the Nassfeld Pass. Here, look back to the left and a few 100 m behind you you will see the sign for Studena Bassa. Take the exit and take an extremely sharp left turn onto a narrower road. This leads to the village of Studena Bassa, through which we pass and continue on a narrow and steep tarmac road with a few tight bends towards the Lonice Pass or Cason di Lanza. There is a guest house and parking for a few dozen cars. It takes 2 hours to drive all the way from Ljubljana to the guest house.

Path description:
After the guesthouse, look for the route signs and route 439. The trail starts on a fine macadam road, which leads almost horizontally to the right towards mountain pasture Malga di Val Force. After a kilometre, look out for the turnoff marked by signs on a tree. The path crosses a meadow on the right and descends into a ravine with a stream. Cross this at a suitable point next to a fallen footbridge and re-climb the opposite bank. The path continues along very watery terrain, which in the rainy season certainly justifies the name of the area - Wetlands or Nassfeld in German. But don't worry. The route is designed to avoid mud as much as possible. Continue crossing the hill and rejoin the dirt road before mountain pasture. Continue along this road past mountain pasture Malga di Val Dolce until you see the route signs again after a while. Here we climb steeply up the ravine. The path son flattens out and continues in a gentle ascent towards our destination. At the foot of Trogkofl, our route joins the 403 cross-route.
From here onwards, several ascents of the mountain are possible. If you want to try the Crete Rosse ferrata, continue a good kilometre to the right in the direction of Nassfeld almost to the edge where the path turns left. You won't see any signs for the ferrata along the route itself, so look out for the 2 boulders just off the path. The ferrata is above them and is marked by a sign higher up in the rocks.
Only the best about the ferrata itself. It is well guarded and runs partly on chimneys and partly on open rock. It requires some strength in the arms, adequate experience and, if necessary, a self-protection kit. Climbing gloves are recommended, helmet is compulsory. Camera also :) Ferata will not leave anyone indifferent, especially in good weather, when you look past your shoes into the depths :) It is a good half an hour long and covers about 200 vertical metres. It ends at a break that divides the steep walls of Trogkoflo with the summit plateau. From here to the top it is a pleasant half-hour walk over picturesque terrain with good views in good weather. There is a cross and an interesting box at the top.
You can descend in several other directions, all of which are less protected than the approach one.
