Velenje Castle

Description of peak:
Velenje Castle or Velenje Castle stands on a hill above the old part of the town of Velenje in the Šaleška Valley and is one of the most beautiful and best preserved castles in Slovenia.
The castle offers a beautiful view of Velenje and the surrounding hills. Uršlja gora and Peca are visible to the north-west, Paški Kozjak to the north and Radojč and Vinska Gora to the north-east.
Today, the castle is the premises of the Velenje Museum.
In addition to the museum, the Velenje castle offers space for various social and cultural events.
The castle premises include a wedding hall, and the castle courtyard is the venue for various cultural and musical events.
At the castle there is a signpost for the Pozo Castle Trail, which takes you to three other castles in the Velenje area.
